The Director of Product Operations is responsible for leading a top notch product operations team toward delivery of industry leading products and solutions. The Director works cross-functionally both within Bazaarvoice as well as with customers and partners to identify needs, optimize processes and procedures, and drive outstanding operational execution. This role reports to the Vice President of Product Management and is also responsible for managing a constantly evolving set of strategic initiatives to maintain leadership in the high growth social commerce industry. Primary activities of the Director of Product Operations include: working cross-functionally to identify and execute continued enhancements to the holistic Bazaarvoice product/solution lifecycle process, driving execution excellence through direct management of the Bazaarvoice program office, cross-functional coordination and communication of product and solution roadmaps, exceeding customer and partner expectations through managing the delivery of top notch technical publications and product training, and optimizing responsiveness and agility through management of and end-to-end feedback system, managing and controlling departmental P&L, and representing the Bazaarvoice product team internally and within the industry.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Product / Solution Lifecycle (PSL) Ownership: Drive continual improvement and agility for the cross-functional end-to-end PSL and ensure operational effectiveness throughout. Work across the Bazaarvoice ecosystem to ensure customers, partners, and internal constituencies? needs and expectations are met or exceeded.
Process Optimization: Identify ways to improve internal processes, efficiency, and customer satisfaction by implementing the collection of key metrics to identify patterns, trends, and over-arching issues. Use the results of analysis to make decisions and continuously refine processes and strategies. Communicate ideas for improvement and obtain buy-in from peers and leadership.
Program Management Office: Lead the BV program management office to deliver successful end-to-end product and solution offerings in line with the PSL. Optimize communication channels, visibility, and predictability to insure clear and effective expectation setting and execution transparency.
Product and Solution Roadmap Coordination and Communication: Ensure cross-functional coordination of product and solution roadmaps and go to market alignment. Optimize visibility and transparency into roadmap updates and impacts. Deliver roadmap presentations internally and externally in support of go to market efforts.
Technical Publications and Product Training Optimization: Lead the technical publications and product training organizations to create and deliver compelling materials in new and innovative ways. Drive continued innovation and adoption of industry leading best practices to deliver materials that delight customers and partners.
Drive Agility and Responsiveness: Contribute to the development and release of product, and solution related enhancements (primarily bugs, feature requests, and suggestions) by leveraging feedback mechanisms and working cross-functionally to proactively identify platform issues and opportunities for optimization. Drive the collection, prioritization, and documentation of requirements for enhancement. Provide clear communication into the product management and engineering team around opportunities and trade-offs that take both technical and business aspects into account.
Lead and manage a Team of Direct Reports: Develop and motivate a high performance team and monitor key performance indicators. Analyze data for patterns and indicators of performance slippage. Document and discuss performance issues as applicable.
Manage and Control Departmental P&L: Estimate the financial resources required to support departmental activities, capture and iterate budgets, and track and reconcile spending against a budget throughout the year.
Support Strategic Initiatives: Work with the Vice President of Product Management on strategic initiatives in support of growth opportunities and operational excellence.
Skills and Experience Necessary for the Role:
Education Requirement: Bachelor?s Degree in Computer Science, or related discipline; MBA preferred
Minimum Experience: 8-10 years of experience implementing or supporting technology solutions, including:
Project management
Managing business needs and technical requirements
Gathering, interpreting, and incorporating customer feedback into improvement plans
Identifying, implementing and measuring improvements for product releases
Working cross-functionally to resolve technical, procedural, or operational issues
