About the Role
Livemocha is looking for a Director level individual with strong program management skills and background to coordinate and manage all teaching activities and services that power language learning on Livemocha.com. Teachers are our most crucial constituent, as they create learning experiences, teach live classes, author new lessons and teaching materials, review learners? work, and provide private tutoring.
The Director of Program Management: Teaching Services will be responsible for coordinating processes to work with and organize our pool of teacher contributors, creating systems to match teachers with market requirements for various teaching activities, and working with other functional roles within the company to ensure that teaching experiences are well deployed, merchandised, and serviced throughout the Livemocha experience.
Equally as comfortable organizing a complex process as a group of people, the ideal candidate for this position will be both meticulous and gregarious, and will be passionate about bringing education and communication to a global audience. This person will be expected to motivate a team and must have the experience and confidence to successfully work with others across functions.
Specific Responsibilities
Develop processes for organizing and retaining a large pool of teachers and qualified individuals to build coursework and provide instruction
Work with and synthesize requirements from internal and external constituents to ensure alignment between enterprise and consumer sales, marketing, product development, content creation, and teaching
Develop and manage relationships with teachers, content contributors, partners and vendors and serve as the primary advocate for teachers to the rest of the company
Manage and provide strategic direction to assigned staff
Specific Skills
Strong program management and project management skills, with expertise creating and executing successful processes to address complex requirements
Ability to motivate and supervise teams, in person and online, in a fast-paced, often long-distance, agile environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to express oneself well to an international audience and present to groups including contractors, executives, customers, and peers
Ability to manage large groups of people, primarily remote and from all countries and territories, across a variety of tasks in an orderly manner
Ability to work with people across multiple disciplines and skill levels to achieve a goal
Background and Experience
Bachelor?s degree, with a preference for Master?s degree or equivalent experience
7+ years experience in program management; 3 years in a management role
Experience managing global work teams in different regions, countries and territories
Demonstrated experience organizing and managing online communities
Background in or passion for education and/or language learning
Fluency in more than one language a plus
