COMPANY DESCRIPTIO
Venture for America is a non-profit organization that sends top college graduates to work at startups and growth-stage companies in the cities that need them. Our goals are to foster job creation and to train our best and brightest to become company founders and leaders. We think of ourselves as creating a structured path to startups for talented young people.
We recruit and select high-potential, high-impact young people from top national universities, train them in what it takes to operate in a startup, place them at growth companies that are looking for talent in emerging startup ecosystems around the country, and support them during their two year Fellowship.
To date, Venture for America launched in Detroit, New Orleans, Providence, Cincinnati, and Las Vegas in 2012. The first class of 40 Venture for America Fellows includes graduates from Harvard, Yale, MIT, Brown, Duke, Penn, Cornell, Northwestern, and other top schools. This year, we're expanding aggressively, to a 2013 class of 60-70 Fellows across 7-8 cities including Baltimore and Cleveland.
Instead of defaulting to the usual choices of finance, consulting, law, and the giants of the Fortune 500, we want to see more young talent choosing growth organizations at which they can make a big impact and contribute to job creation.
