Job Description:
The PMO Director owns process across all Product Programs ? both project and operational.
This person will be responsible for building a PMO that creates and maintains project management standards for both Agile and Waterfall methodologies, drives enterprise document colocation and partners with peer stakeholder teams to drive operations processes supporting technology. The Director will also drive the development and adoption of process ? operational and cross platform.
The successful candidate is a multi-disciplinary process consultant with a strong technology background and demonstrable experience driving transformation. This position requires the ability to develop a relationship with Executives, Program and Product management to guide the translation of Avalaras strategy into actionable plans for delivery and allow the Product Owners to make informed project investment decisions in support of that strategy.

Job Duties:
Demonstrated ability to analyze current projects, culture and resources and design a plan for building and maturing the PMO using Agile with Scrum and execute the plan
Lead the creation of project portfolio management in collaboration with Technical Program Management, Shared Services and executive leadership to understand and document project drivers and work to ensure ongoing project relevance to corporate objectives
Provide overall leadership to Project and Program Managers, effectively coaching and mentoring, delegating responsibility and measuring results
Work with Shared Services and Stakeholder teams to align resources while preserving operational integrity and a balanced perspective between project and technical career goals
Provide reporting and documentation accountability for all aspects of projects across all phases, through implementation, as well as across all parties contributing to projects
Deliver audience tailored reporting views that allow informed investment decisions
Create a team-oriented environment that fosters intra and inter-organizational partnerships, ongoing process development and improvement, participation, accountability and balance among competing project and operational interests
Define and deliver unambiguous and timely communications across the enterprise in support of forward planning and a no surprises project and technology environment
Escalate issues/risks that impact costs and time and track to resolution, coaching as necessary to ensure customer expectations are managed
Experience and Skills:
Superlative written and verbal skills
Bachelors degree and Project Management certification with at least 10 years experience successfully delivering project and program management
At least 7 years managing technical project teams in direct and matrix management environments, both on and off-shore
Advanced certification or training in the area of Project Management process, organizational development and tools in support of desired business results
Solid understanding of the product lifecycle, technical maintenance and operations, and project transition to steady state
Experience delivering on corporate strategy in technical environments
Experience leading and delivering operational models ? PMO, End-to-End Support, Maintenance & Operations, Service Management
Knowledge and experience with SaaS solutions and services
Excellent team building and internal consulting skills
Strong sense of accountability and the ability to inspire accountability in others
Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority
