The Director of Project Management will direct and coordinate the activities of the Project Management function within the company. The individual will provide strong leadership and support to the organization's portfolio of both active projects and those under assessment to streamline product development and market delivery, ensuring projects are properly resources and aligned with the Company's business strategy.
2. Scope and Impact
The individual will lead diaDexus project teams, working with both internal and external constituents, on the development and commercialization of new products and improvement of existing products. The individual will lead cross functional teams, keeping meeting minutes, assigning tasks, maintaining project Gantt charts, and holding project team members accountable for all deliverables including necessary documentation. Work with the company's Research and Development teams and all functions involved in new product development or product improvement activities, as they support the company's cross functional project teams to ensure the company brings world class products to the marketplace. Position will assist company on assessment of line extensions or potential new products.
3. Essential Functions
Management and consolidation of project activities, including:
Administration of project data, milestones, metrics
Analysis of project course
Creating proposals for optimizing projects
Prioritizing activities of projects
Routinely reviewing and reporting project status
Act as a team manager of projects from early stage assessment, research, development, regulatory clearance and product commercialization, establishing a core team to define and achieve mutual understanding of project scope and outcomes.
Ensure all team members understand their roles and accept their responsibilities, with full authority to take action when commitments are not met.
Negotiate the appropriate rigor of phase and deliverables review, with core and execution team involvement for approving phase transitions, project objective changes, etc.
Prepare and execute design and technical phase exit reviews.
Manage project schedule and task details utilizing project management tools such as reports, tracking charts, checklists, and project scheduling software.
Perform project risk assessments.
Identify and help the team make project trade-offs to balance scope, time and costs.
Facilitate communication- with core team, extended team, sponsors, customers, and other key stakeholders.
Monitor quality of project deliverables and ensure project deliverables are met.
Deliver quarterly status reports to senior management.
Manage literature database.
Perform alliance manager functions with partner organizations.
4 Education/Experience Required
Minimum of 10 years healthcare/medical device experience with minimum of 5 years of experience in a comparable position.
PhD in Biochemistry or related sciences or MS or MBA.
