The Director of Public Relations is responsible for traditional and social media relations for Vocus. He/She will maximize our media coverage while supporting our corporate and product positioning. While experience in mainstream media relations is a given, the candidate must also demonstrate success in developing PR campaigns using new tactics such as content marketing, social media, and use of evangelists.
Plan and achieve press coverage goals through the development and execution of media campaigns that support our corporate and product positioning and demand gen efforts. Tactics responsible for expected to use include reporter pitching, product reviews, content marketing, press releases, launch events, speaker engagements, blog posts
Develop and execute our social media strategy which includes management of Facebook, Twitter, and our product blogs
Manage external network of evangelists and internal social media team
Forecast, plan, and execute a media relations budget to achieve objectives
Create opportunities for Vocus executives that provide a platform to further establish the company as innovative leaders in our industry
Measure and track results with assistance from a reporting and analytics team and Vocus PR Software
Ensure we are consistently tracking to an appropriate balance between paid, owned and earned media.
10-15 years in positions of increasing responsibility in several of the following areas: PR, social media, journalism, and online marketing
Exceptional writing skills
Immersed in shaping and integrating current PR trends. Candidates are expected to provide campaign examples, writing examples, and activities in social media.
Experience managing internal teams and external partners/agencies
Comfortable working in a high-growth, software category
Energy, initiative, imagination, and adaptability
Use of a PR Software suite
Bachelor?s and MBA preferred
Minimum 5 years of overall experience in building relationships
Strong verbal and writing skills
Social media experience strongly preferred
B2B experience and multimedia production capabilities, especially video, preferred
