Position Summary:
The Director of Research & Analytics role in the Research and Analytics Team is responsible for overseeing and directing research efforts across all aspects of Specific Media business.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Includes the following but other duties may be assigned.
Oversee the design, development and implementation of research strategies to achieve research objectives and requirements across all aspects of Specific Media business, including online advertising as well as music entertainment platforms
Direct research and analytic strategies to support the advertising aspects of our business including industry thought leadership, market research, white papers, case studies, and campaign effectiveness validation
Lead research and analytic strategies to support the music entertainment aspects of our business including site usage and audience monitoring and insights, new feature evaluation, and product testing support
Oversee and continue to build a team of research analysts
Involve in planning and managing a research budget
Interface with multiple teams to support research needs of the company, including working with technical and operation teams on technical issues as well as with sales team to deal with business and client requests
Liaise with external research agencies and data source suppliers; involve in research agency recruitment, contracts and overall relationship development
Literate in all research tools relevant to digital/online, mobile, and cross-screen media
Skills:
Minimum 5 years experience in market, consumer, or media research, or other similar research roles
MA / Ph.D. in a science area with heavy research experience strongly preferred
Excellent analytical and communication skills
Proven ability to grow a department by expanding on existing and new functions
Experienced in managing a growing team of analysts and in providing mentorship
Strong ability to work with both technical and non-technical teams, such as providing methodological advices in technical specification development and 3rd party measurements, digesting high-level research and analytic requests into specific data and analysis plans, working with sales team and clients for appropriate research plans, collaborating with operation team to execute research plans, and presenting research findings and recommendations both internally and externally
Strong ability to build, develop and maintain relationships with internal / external clients and vendors
Strong ability to manage multiple high priorities
Strong understanding of current Internet, mobile, TV and new technological developments in order to lead thought leadership research in the industry
Ability to anticipate challenges related to study design and to guide team to avoid as many potential issues as possible and/or to solve issues as they arise
Proven experience in a variety of qualitative and/or quantitative research methods
Microsoft office proficiency with Word, Excel, and Powerpoint
May require minimum travel
