The Director of Revenue is responsible for the strategic planning of revenue concepts and resources, and for the development of policies and procedures governing the management and accounting of all revenue for FireEye. Under limited supervision, this position performs administrative, fiscal, and operational management duties in the collection and control of cash to ensure financial security.
Responsibilities:
The Director of Revenue is responsible for ensuring compliance with authoritative literature and company policies and for fully managing the monthly close process with efficiency and accuracy.
This position will be responsible for working with the Deal Desk in the review of customer arrangements to ensure the proper revenue recognition in accordance with company policy and revenue recognition accounting standards
Manage the VSOE accounting and compliance process.
Ensure the integrity of key processes by understanding systems, flow of transactions, internal controls and recommending efficiency and effectiveness improvements.
Work with IT to prioritize system enhancements and development projects related to revenue accounting and monthly close activities.
Work actively with external auditors to ensure that revenue recognition interpretations and revenue recorded are consistent and compliant with GAAP and all technical pronouncements.
Collaborate with cross-functional organizations within the company (Deal Desk, Legal, Sales, Order Operations, and Finance) and outside the organization (external auditors) to influence critical behavior and process changes that could mitigate revenue risks and enhance efficiencies.
Play an important role in the definition of revenue process transformation projects Oracle, with an emphasis on articulating viable revenue recognition approaches.
As part of our Sarbanes-Oxley 404 compliance, this position will have a direct role in ongoing compliance work, testing and remediation and other activities along with direct responsibility related to our revenue cycle within 404.
Qualifications:
10+ years of combined experience in Big 4 CPA firms and private industry (including 2-3 years of revenue accounting experience).
BS in Accounting, Finance or related field, MBA preferred
CPA required, audit experience from Big 4 CPA firm preferred
The ideal candidate should possess direct industry experience in or client management experience as an audit manager of multi-division, international, publicly held corporations with sales in excess of $1 billion
Must be an effective manager who can support, challenge and inspire competent staff to rise to the next level of proficiency in their professional career, develop management continuity strategies and develop a strong team environment
Must have managed the quarterly close and reporting process for revenue at a public company
Must have excellent presentation skills and the ability to communicate effectively (both written and oral) with all levels in the company
Possess sufficient competence, experience and aspiration to challenge existing paradigms and discuss issues at high levels in the organization
Must be proficient in handling multiple complex issues concurrently with the ability to articulate and prioritize based on impact, to align course of actions and execute on timeliness
A team leader with a keen appreciation of interdependency among the Revenue Policy, Revenue Accounting, Deal Desk and Revenue System functions of the Group as well as the ability to partner cross functionally to gain support and enlist actions
Experience and / or knowledge of Oracle preferred
