The Direct Response team provides advertisers the ability to send highly targeted ads to permission based email subscribers and through other online channels. Adknowledge maintains anonymous user profiles on over 400M unique users, allowing precise and privacy friendly targeting.
The Direct Response team consists of the Vice President of Direct Response, a Director of Account Management-overseeing 6 Account Managers and 3 Campaign Managers; 2 Compliance Analysts, 2 Account Executives and one Senior Account Coordinator. The Director of Sales will report to the Vice President of Direct Response.
The Director of Sales is responsible for leadership, sales strategy and risk management for the Direct Response sales team. This individual will be accountable for managing the sales team and modeling/driving pipeline activity necessary to hit revenue targets. Sales territory spans the continental United States, with potential clients being direct response advertisers, brand advertisers and interactive agencies whose campaigns are a fit for Adknowledge?s digital advertising products.
The Director of Sales? duties:
Team Leadership: Oversight and accountability for team performance. Coaching, directing, setting targets/expectations and managing to activity goals, sales pipelines, assisting with terms negotiations and providing market feedback to product
Business Development: In addition to team leadership, this position involves prospecting the top 1,000 brands, direct response advertisers and their respective agencies, closing new business and achieving revenue objectives.
Contracts/Negotiation: Coordinates with legal resources to negotiate contract terms that accurately define working relationships while mitigating risk.
Achieving Revenue Objectives: Sell Adknowledge?s Direct Response Products to specific prospects, and, when necessary, provide cross-sell assistance to other channel sales teams.
Additional duties include:
Utilize and update salesforce.com (contact management tool) for daily activities
Prepare sales reports for senior management
Representing Adknowledge at Marketing expos, and other duties that may be required
Travel as necessary (up to 20%)
The successful candidate will have:
At least (2) two years experience managing a sales or business development team
At least (3) three years experience in selling CPA, CPC or CPM to online advertisers and/or advertising agencies
Sharp business acumen, capable of thinking through various possible business models, pricing options, risk/reward analysis and closing tactics
Successful track record of building revenue and closing deals from scratch
Proven leader and communicator, with strong influencing skills
Working knowledge of contract negotiation techniques and etiquette
Competent in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Salesforce.com

The Director of Sales leads a team tasked with increasing Adknowledge revenue through acquisition of new advertising customers. This will require a strong understanding of the products offered, value proposition, customer goals, risk management and the competitive landscape. A successful Director of Sales will have the emotional intelligence necessary to lead a tenacious, intelligent, hungry team. He or she will have an unyielding work ethic and a natural ability to network, build relationships and close business.
