Overview:
We are seeking a Director of Sales to be responsible for directing and managing
the sales activities of the Regional Sales Managers (RSMs) for the assigned
regions.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
? Develop and implement strategic sales plans to accommodate corporate
goals.
? Direct sales forecasting activities and set performance goals accordingly.
? Review market analyses to determine customer needs, price schedules,
and discount rates.
? Develop a thorough understanding of customer contracts.
? Directly supervise RSMs: interview, hire, train and coach RSMs; plan,
assign and direct work; appraise performance; reward and discipline and
address complains and resolve problems.
? Direct channel development activity and coordinate sales distribution by
establishing sales territories, quotas and goals.
? Lead process improvements for RSMs.
? Manage CRM compliance among RSMs.
? Have astute presentation skills with the ability to communicate the MLI
value proposition in a compelling and impressive manner to customers
and prospects. Deliver sales presentations to key customers in
coordination with RSMs.
? Represent company at trade association meetings.
? Meet with major customers, prospects, and key influencers, assisting
RSMs with maintaining relationships and negotiating and closing deals.
? Coordinate liaison between RSMs and other company departments.
? Analyze and control expenditures to conform to budgetary requirements.
? Prepare periodic sales report showing sales volume, potential sales, and
areas of proposed customer base expansion.
? Monitor and evaluate the activities and products of the competition.Skills and Educational Requirements:
? Eight to ten years of sales experience preferred, with at least five years of
experience in sales management. Significant agriculture industry sales
experience and finely tuned value selling skills preferred.
? Bachelor?s degree required; degree in an agriculture related field is
preferred.
? Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with CRM preferred.
? High-energy individual with initiative who looks for and takes advantage of
opportunities. Asks for and offers help when needed.
? Strong relationship development skills are required in addition to excellent
communication and interpersonal skills, along with a "hands-on", "roll up
your sleeves" style.
? Significant detail orientation.
? Displays original thinking and creativity and generates suggestions for
improving work.
? Must be an individual of high integrity and ethics.
? Must display a high level of energy, enthusiasm, and SENSE of
URGENCY.
? Travel as required to meet/exceed sales objectives, as much as 50% or
more of the time.
