Azimuth?s real world test solutions enable research, development, QA and marketing engineers to
test the performance, conformance and certification of broadband wireless devices and networks
supporting data, voice and video applications.
Job Description
Azimuth is currently seeking a Director of Software Engineering. The Director of Software
Engineering will be responsible to manage a team of software engineers in developing architectures
and products for Azimuth?s leading real world test solutions. This position will report to the VP of
Software and Solutions and will be based in Acton, MA.
Responsibilities
? Strategic Direction: Providing strategic direction for the SW solutions team ? mapping customer
feedback/market requirements/competitive considerations to compelling solution designs that
strike the right balance between cutting-edge technical excellence, robustness and time-tomarket requirements.
? SW Architecture: Leading the SW architecture definition that forms the framework for creation
of multiple inter-connected SW products - with agility, and with future-proofing where required.
Driving focus on modularity and scalability in SW design. Delivering SW solutions with seamless
interface (e.g. APIs, input/output data formats etc.) between different component parts,
appropriate logging and debugging framework, easy to use hooks for test automation.
? SW Licensing and Delivery: Driving the creation of flexible and high-quality SW licensing and
delivery mechanisms that meet complex market requirements.
? SW User Interface: Guiding the design of user interfaces that are intuitive, easy to use and
mindful of the target end-user?s expectations, with a keen eye for the right aesthetics.
? SW Development Environment: Creating an agile SW development environment that facilitates
simultaneous multiple projects.
? SW Engineering: Promoting the best software engineering practices to ensure the highest level
of quality and timely delivery of products ? in coding and code-review, in documentation (both
internal and customer-facing), in testing (Unit, Integration and QA Testing), and in tracking
issues both during development and in support.
? Project Management: Demonstrating proficiency in tracking projects to schedule and guiding

Qualifications
? Extensive experience in application software design and development
? Extensive experience in building and managing a SW team and complex SW projects
? Expertise in .net development, object oriented design, aspect oriented design and other
application software areas
? Expertise in developing a flexible SW licensing framework
? Expertise in delivering SW in versatile ways ? ranging from SW installed on dedicated test
servers to SW delivered through the ?cloud? (SaaS)
? Expertise in the Agile Software Development process
? Proven ability in meeting the highest Quality standards through good software engineering
practices
? Proven ability in driving cross-functional teams towards common product goals
? Proven ability in delivering on-time SW products under multiple-project pressure, while
managing resources to adapt to a dynamic environment
? Excellent Communication and customer-facing skills
Desirable
? Masters? degree preferably in Software Engineering/Computer Science/Electrical Engineering
? Test-and-measurement/Diagnostics SW background
Personal Traits
The qualified candidate should have experience in development and/or test engineering, be selfmotivated, and willing to work independently in a fast paced, growing small company
environment.
