GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY:
This individual will be responsible for leading a growing and dynamic SW engineering team that is responsible for all software development within NextIO.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Ensures products are completed on time and according to quality standards
Facilitates communication upward and across product team including product status, justifications for variances and technical information (architecture, design and implementation objectives).
Proper disposition of discrepant material
Serves as focal point for other departments on product status or other product and project information
Organizes product delivery through development of a product project plan which includes:
Communication of product goals as jointly defined by the Product manager and the Product Leader
In conjunction with Product Management, definition of product strategy and requirements
Identification of the roles and responsibilities of key product and project groups
Work with Project Mgmt. for a schedule with key milestones, identification of risks, contingency plans and allocation of project resources
Owns delivery of requisite process documentation including requirements documents, specifications, design documents and testing strategies
Facilitates the definition of SW development processes for developing superior software product. Assists in the valuation and research of complimentary products and technologies
Ensures projects and products are completed according to product specifications and schedules are properly documented:
Implementation of the product satisfies the product specifications.
Product architecture and implementation is maintainable and extendible to accommodate future development and maintenance architecture documentation and architecture design review).
Ensures that Customer Support, Training, Quality Assurance and Documentation:
Gets appropriate level of technical review and support
QA test plans meet the product requirements
Appropriate development and corporate methods and procedures are followed.
Constantly strives and puts processes in place to improve quality
Manages Product Enhancement and Integration Teams to:
Work with Product Management and other product groups to define product enhancements and product release schedules.
Meet product delivery commitments.
Keep products competitive in the market by delivery enhanced features.
Manages the Tier 3 Support Teams to: Provide superior customer support on all product problems escalated to the Support Team.
Provided management reports that measure both the quality and speed of customer service.
Puts in place methods and procedures to improve both.
Assures the proper escalation processes are in place and followed.
Manages personnel activities of staff (i.d. hires, trains, appraises, rewards, motivates, disciplines, recommends termination as necessary, etc.).
Works closely with Product Management to help assure and inform staff of product capabilities, compatibility and release schedules.
Manages within a defined budget.
Works with CTO office to plan and direct the development of new software products and/or enhancements to existing products.
Represents company in sales opportunities, marketing presentations and trade shows as a speaker for products and architecture.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent experience required; Masters Degree preferred.
15+ years in progressively more senior positions as a software developer, designer, and development manager.
The successful candidate must have previous software management experience and possess extensive experience in analysis, defining system architecture, design, and development of large scale enterprise systems.
5+ years of management experience
Experience with a variety of operating environments and programming languages including Linux, VMWARE and Windows, C++, Java, and C#.
Proven leadership and managerial skills, capable of independently managing a large team during multiple phases of the project lifecycle.
Project management experience with complex projects and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Well-developed organizational and interpersonal communications skills.
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, such as meeting facilitation, presentation, and documentation.
Hands-on experience with using different software lifecycle methodologies e.g. Agile, Waterfall, RUP etc.
Proven experience developing and supporting systems that have been deployed and are in active production use.
Ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment, as well as independently.
Exposure to datacenter, networking and storage markets Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for any employer.
