Director of Storage Development Skytap
Position
Skytap is looking for talented Director of Storage Development to join our storage team. Cloud computing is one of today's hottest technologies, and Skytap is leading the way by providing self-service virtual data centers in just a few clicks. In Skytap, multi-terabyte virtual data centers are cloned and provisioned in seconds. Skytap's storage subsystem is the key to our speed and efficiency. As the lead of our storage team, you will design software to deliver a scalable, highly available service managing petabytes of virtual storage.
We are looking for individuals with experience building complex distributed systems with a focus on storage, file systems, data replication, and availability. We use agile development techniques, and our system is built primarily using open source software and languages, including Linux and Python. Experience with these technologies along with relational databases and scale-out architectures is required.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the design and implementation of the next generation of Skytap's web-based 24x7 cloud computing storage fabric
Meet scalability, availability, and performance goals for a system providing petabytes of virtual storage
Work closely with a talented team of engineers and architects
Rapidly build and evolve major features in collaboration with product management
Help resolve major customer technical issues
Communicate with management and customers
Research and experiment with key technologies, architectures, and standards
Required Background and Skills
BS in Computer Science (or equivalent)
8+ years experience designing and implementing complex and fault tolerant distributed systems
Deep knowledge of storage, file systems, SANs, RAID technologies, and data replication
Deep knowledge of concurrency control, data structures, algorithms, and scale-out software architectures
Strong skills in analyzing, measuring, and optimizing scalability and performance
Experience using hypervisors
Experience with database systems, transaction management, and object relational mapping concepts
Self directed and a great team member
