Position Title:
Director, Supply Chain Operations
Summary:
The Director, Supply Chain Operations, is responsible for all sourcing and material management functions relating to the company?s products. This position will require proven experience with a thorough understanding of the set up and continued execution a lean, efficient supply chain operation, including assembly and component purchasing, contract manufacturing, inventory and WIP control, MRP, and contract negotiations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop, document, and execute a comprehensive logistics and distribution strategic plan which will concurrently drive optimal customer satisfaction and company profitability.
Identify and implement best in class material systems and infrastructures, along with the enforceable disciplines that underlie a well run supply chain operation.
Develop and implement an optimized outsourcing model. This includes the planning for all procurement, logistics, inventory control, and distribution functions. It will require close monitoring of product BOM?s and production plans, as well as supplier delivery capabilities and status to ensure that product delivery dates are met.
Ensure that all supply chain processes are properly documented and that quality control procedures are followed.
Utilizing effective supply chain control mechanisms. Run required end-to-end product supply chain capabilities in alignment with cost, customer quality/reliability, and supplier performance targets.
Recommend the proper development of company infrastructures and personnel to in support of supply chain needs. Expand the capabilities and performance of the supply chain to align with the expected growth of the business.
Establish applicable metrics, trackers, and reviews to ensure the team achieves the established targets for performance. The position will ensure attainment of metrics such as MRP data integrity, cost reduction and purchase price variance, inventory levels and turns, material forecast accuracy, excess and obsolete inventory, and supplier performance.
Facilitate the final disposition of all excess and obsolete inventories and ensure that goals are achieved.
Effectively balance work on multiple projects and teams simultaneously.
Ensure all regulatory and compliance measures are met within guidelines.
Provide effective communications on all relevant issues to peers, manufacturing personnel, and management.
Travel to contract manufacturers as necessary to establish, maintain, and improve parallel operations.
Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor?s degree in business, engineering, or related discipline.
10-15 years of directly related experience in end-to-end supply chain sourcing and managing supplier relationships, preferably in electronic or optical industries. At least 5 of those years must be in management positions of increasing responsibility.
A thorough understanding of end-to-end integrated supply chain management processes and improvement techniques, including value stream mapping and other lean principles that support planning, sourcing, purchasing, subcontracting, logistics, materials management, manufacturing, distribution, and customer support.
Knowledge of material distribution operating systems, logistics optimization, and forecasting.
Proficiency in supply chain systems such as MRP/ERP, JIT, and demand-pull systems.
Ability to develop and manage both operating and capital budgets.
Demonstratable financial acumen regarding cash flow, margin improvement, working capital, inventory turns, and inventory reductions.
Experience in the development and use of budgets; familiarity with accounting principles.
Ability to manage cost performance, supply/demand forecasting, & distribution execution across a variety of product lines from multiple sources
In depth knowledge of key supply chain/logistics processes & current best practices.
Flexibility to seek & incorporate input from others into plans, solid track record for effectively managing/developing a team.
Proven negotiation skills in achieving favorable cost and service provisions.
Demonstrated success at improving overall supply chain metrics performance, specifically through non-confrontational issue resolution with customers (both internal and external).
Ability to quickly establish credibility across organization, engaging others to ensure the most effective and efficient logistics solutions.
Demonstrated ability to create and maintain strong business relationships
Ability to adapt and manage effectively in fast paced changing environment.
A proven track record of assembling and leading integrated supply chain teams, including coaching/mentoring experience.
Solid judgment to know what is appropriate for the company size/scope.

Ability to travel (less than 25%).
Candidate must meet eligibility requirements for a security clearance by the U.S. Government within a reasonable time after commencement of employment.
Desired Qualifications:
MBA or advanced degree.
APICS Certification.
SCOR modeling experience.
Demonstrated experience in creating/upgrading the distribution function in an organization of similar size and scope.
Experience in planning, assessing and implementing new business systems.
Visionary able to balance tactical and strategic issues.
Strong analytical, financial & P&L skill required to succeed.
