Summary:
Direct, plan and manage internal and external technical operations including servers, storage, networking, databases and application operations. Responsible for planning, building, and running the compute infrastructure supporting the Oildex production SaaS environment and all information technology systems used throughout company operations, including non-production, development and internal business platform services. While primarily focused on operations, this leader will collaborate and synchronize plans with customer services, development, and quality assurance to drive coordinated issue resolution, technology adoption, and release planning, and to insure the delivery of a stellar customer experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
Ensure the production application, services and underlying infrastructure deliver enterprise reliability, maintaining a minimum of 99.9% availability.
Partner with VP of Operations and Director of Customer Services to insure the highest level of customer satisfaction on a consistent basis, with a primary focus on driving best practices and process improvements that reduce the frequency, severity and resolution time of service incidents.
Manage non-production and corporate network and systems to meet agreed-on internal service levels for delivery and support.
Develop and execute tactical and strategic plans that drive improvements in the technology architecture and operations, optimizing application availability, system performance and operating costs.
Partner with product management and software engineering to manage capacity and support technology deployment and support in alignment with current and future product requirements.
Lead IT, data center, database and application operations teams, hiring and developing great people and maintaining both high standards and high morale.
Oversee security and processes to manage and improve platform security and maintain SSAE-16 compliance.
Assist with the preparation and administration of the budget; manage relationships with vendors and contractors.
Analyze, research, organize and supervise technology related projects as assigned by the VP of Operations.
Implement and manage to a comprehensive set of KPI metrics that document and validate the performance, efficiency and value of the technical operations environment.
Advise executive management team as to performance, availability, reliability and security of all system and application services and issues.
Responsible for all career planning, performance appraisals and personnel development of direct reports within the Technical Operations department.
Works with peers and other team members to problem solve and continually find ways to improve and promote a quality organization.
Technical Skills and Expertise:
Technical architecture vision and planning
Open systems (Linux), Windows and IOS operating systems
Enterprise servers, storage, networking, monitoring and security
Enterprise virtualization technologies (VSphere, z/VM)
Technical operations in a SaaS, PaaS and/or IaaS cloud environment, including infrastructure, application, and database operations
Familiarity with ITIL, SSAE-16, and Business Continuity requirements
Experience with project management, standard operating procedures, problem management, capacity planning, and Opex/Capex planning
Education and Experience:
Four year technical college degree (Masters degree preferred)
10-15 years of operations experience in information technology, including recent experience designing, building and deploying in a cloud environment
10+ years of management experience
Good problem solver with extensive computer knowledge and experience prioritizing competing requirements
Excellent communication skills, multi-task oriented, team player
Strong supervisory and leadership skills
