Job Summary
Lead and mentor a team of 8 to 10 software engineers located on-site and remotely. Exercise technical, architectural and project ownership.
Help formulate development strategy and tactics: methodology, staffing, capital budget, technology roadmap, etc. Continuously evolve and foster a culture of efficiency and excellence in software development: architecture, design, coding standards, testing, patterns, automation, and tools.
Primary Responsibilities
Experience working on commercial software projects
Prior development management or consulting experience preferred, ideally in healthcare
Experience in a formal development methodology (e.g. AGILE) a plus
Extremely strong project management skills, including MS Project experience
Experience with offshore development teams
Demonstrated analysis and data-driven problem solving skills
Experience with healthcare industry, including requirements gathering and/or systems analysis a big plus
Excellent organizational & communication skills
Strong quantitative skills
BS/MS in Computer Science, EE or related discipline or equivalent experience
These traits are also desirable:
Experience with MS SQL Server, C/.NET, and SSIS
Product management experience
Experience in the healthcare, health insurance, or related industries
Experience working in a startup environment
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have the following:
10+ years developing high-performance software
5+ years in a position of technical leadership and building exceptional teams
Impeccable software engineering habits (e.g. automated testing, code reviews)
Extensive experience architecting complex web-based software
Strong written and verbal communication and the ability to communicate in formal and informal settings
A positive outlook, a passion for developing quality products, and the ability to work as part of a team
A sense of urgency and the ability to hit the ground running
Able to cheerfully deal with ambiguity and change
Broad experience with contemporary technologies
Broad experience with relational databases
