Summary
The Director, Product Management is responsible for both product planning and product marketing. This includes managing the product throughout the product lifecycle, gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, defining the product vision, and working closely with engineering, to deliver winning products. It also includes working with sales, marketing and support to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met. This individual will have a track record of quickly assessing market opportunities and disruptive technology trends? The Director, Product Management's job also includes ensuring that the product and marketing efforts support the company's overall strategy and goals.
Qualifications and Experience
The Director, Product Management is expected to:
Define the product strategy and roadmap
Work with development groups during the complete development cycle to ensure the product meets market/customer requirements
Demonstrated ability to work with the Sales and Business Development organizations in helping drive design wins and develop strategic customers
Partner with manufacturing operations and supply chain management on logistics management on final configuration, shipping & packaging specifications
Run beta and pilot programs with early-stage products and samples
Deliver MRDs with prioritized features and corresponding justification
Be an expert with respect to the competition
Develop the core positioning and messaging for the product
Perform product demos to customers
Set pricing to meet revenue and profitability goals
Develop sales tools and collateral
Brief and train the sales force at quarterly sales meetings
Brief press and analysts and go on press tours
Act as a leader within the company and represent marketing on core teams
Required experience and knowledge:
Minimum of 5 years experience as a Director, Product Management or Product Marketing Manager
Demonstrated success defining and launching products
3+ years of experience in a job in the technology market
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Highly motivated, bringing high energy level and commitment to the role
P & L experience
Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority
Bachelor's degree (MBA preferred)
Excellent teamwork skills
Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority
Must be able to travel 25% of the time
