Ellie Mae product managers are responsible for the success of Ellie Mae mortgage automation software products from inception through development and release, continuing with ongoing maintenance and enhancement. Product managers proactively work with customers and prospects to incorporate product feedback with their in-depth knowledge of changing mortgage industry and technology trends. They ensure Ellie Mae products exceed the needs of our customers and remain the most innovative in the industry. Further, they collaborate with multiple teams at Ellie Mae to ensure our customers are aware of and trained on new products and product enhancements
The Director, Product Management is responsible for driving the success of three or more products with the assistance of one or more product managers and business analysts.
Set overall strategic direction for products and feature sets; ensure products interact cohesively.
Proactively work with customers, prospects, the sales organization, and the professional services organization to identify new features and enhancements.
Evangelize your product area among customers, prospects, and colleagues.
Prioritize enhancement backlog to optimize customer satisfaction and prospect take rate.
Manage one or more Business Analysts, Product Managers, or Sr. Product Managers and guide career growth for the individuals on their team.
Maintain up to date knowledge regarding mortgage industry and technology trends as well as the Ellie Mae product line.
Collaborate with peers to define cross-product strategy.
Facilitate process improvement and cross-functional discussions with other departments.
Act as the product interface to the executive team.
Define clear value proposition statements and assist with competitive analyses.
Work in lock step with product marketing to ensure your products are marketed, with training to ensure appropriate courses and collateral are created, and sales to provide them sufficient insight to position your product with customers and prospects.
Skills and Experience
7 or more years managing one or more web-based software products required.
2 or more years? experience in mortgage technology, preferably in document preparation or compliance solutions.
Must have experience managing a team and providing guidance, refinement and detail of an initial idea, helping teammates build out a detailed implementation plan, and leading a team to deliver on the vision of a product.
Detail oriented and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Experience working with cross-functional teams, including product, development, quality assurance, support, marketing and sales.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Flexible and able to adapt in fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to influence cross-functional teams to meet product goals.
Should be comfortable presenting to groups of 10 to 200.
BS degree in business, computer science, or an engineering discipline required. MBA preferred.
Experience managing products in an agile development environment preferred.
