Director, Product SEO Everyday Health

Everyday Health is looking for an energetic SEO director to manage our SEO product development team. The SEO product team is focused on site-specific features, content, and campaigns that will substantially grow search-related revenue. The director is responsible for identifying the best projects and executing. We are seeking a leader who can manage their own portfolio of sites while also managing a team of junior SEO managers, each focused on their own site portfolios. You will have the support of our growing link outreach team, dedicated to improving our brands' authority across the web, as well as the SEO platform team, dedicated to developing scalable SEO technology and data-analysis solutions.
This isn't your typical in-house role where you're flying solo, re-explaining SEO basics, and never learning on the job. You'll be joining an internal agency comprised of a collegial group of SEO experts and have access to a growing team of link builders who are there to make your campaigns a success. Nor is this your typical agency gig where you wait months for your enterprise clients to implement recommendations or where you can never get a client-domain email for outreach. You'll sit among the product managers, editors, and programmers working on your sites?we want to get things done! The SEO team reserves 20% of our time working together to become smarter inbound marketers, sharing what we've learned and conducting experiments.
Play a key role in setting the company's SEO and inbound marketing strategy and lead product and editorial execution across our sites
Work with product, technology, and editorial teams to maximize the SEO value of our Health properties (primary sites: everydayhealth.com and medpagetoday.com)
Manage and coach junior SEO managers responsible for their own portfolio of sites (within our Lifestyle, Diet/Fitness, and Local product divisions).
Set product development and editorial priorities for our Physician's Desk Reference property (pdrhealth.com)
Create product specifications for SEO projects
Design and help implement editorial process improvements that increase search and inbound marketing effectiveness
Set priorities and measure the effectiveness of link acquisition campaigns
Serve as an expert advisor to the executive team
Conduct training exercises to expand the skills of our junior SEO staff and educate the company as the industry evolves
5+ years of SEO strategy experience, either within a top-tier agency or leading an in-house SEO operation
3+ years of direct management experience
Proven ability to develop projects that have a large impact on SEO business value
Exceptional communication skills?demonstrated ability to work well with technical staff, editors, and senior business leaders
High data fluency?we prefer a background in programming or other technical field
Experience with video and international SEO projects a plus
