Job Description:
The successful candidate will be expected to provide in-depth expertise in risk and capital management software and software solution services for insurance and pension companies using Conning software which includes a state-of-the art economic scenario generator (GEMS) and stochastic asset/liability modeling system (ADVISE).
This position will be primarily prospect and client-facing in North America but will work collaboratively with the European and Asia R&CMS teams and provide support for Conning?s advisory and asset management businesses, as needed.
The successful candidate will be expected to develop in-depth knowledge of the Conning risk and capital management software systems; develop appropriate software product and services sales strategies for individual prospects; take the lead in the sales process working independently and in conjunction with distribution partners and Conning relationship managers and sales executives, as appropriate; provide ongoing account management to software clients for client satisfaction, successful upselling and retention; build and analyze financial models for insurance companies and pension plans; and manage project teams servicing Conning software clients.
The candidate will also participate in the product management process in conjunction with the GEMS and ADVISE Product Manager and the software and product development teams.
While the position has no direct P&L responsibility, the position will be required to manage to sales and revenue targets and expense budgets.
Candidates should be familiar with economic scenario generators and related risk and capital management modeling software as well as have familiarity with complex investment and derivative products.
As a senior executive in Conning?s Risk & Capital Management Solutions business, the candidate will be part of the leadership team for Conning?s North American software operations. The candidate will also be expected to be a spokesperson for Conning and participate in industry conferences and contribute to the writing and publishing of articles and white papers. The candidate should be comfortable as a principal spokesperson in communicating results to senior management and boards of Conning?s clients.
In general, the successful candidate will be expected to:
? Develop in-depth GEMS expertise and expertise in Conning?s ADVISE system and be the software technical expert in working with clients and prospects
? Advise prospects and clients in developing solutions using the GEMS and ADVISE software for investment product-related issues
? Design and direct software evaluation processes for prospects
? Demonstrate sales expertise in pursuing prospects through all aspects of the sales cycle, including the ability to negotiate and close sales
? Serve as the account manager for Conning software clients
? Lead/participate in risk and capital management advisory engagements
? Develop customized GEMS calibrations for clients including specific country calibrations and asset classes
? Provide ongoing support services to software clients
? Support quarterly GEMS Service calibrations, including developing, testing and quality control of customized calibration services on a quarterly or annual basis
? Contribute to the ongoing research and development of the ADVISE and GEMS models
? Other responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications and Experience
?At least 15 years? experience in the capital markets and/or insurance industry. Life insurance expertise preferred
?Significant experience in use of stochastic time series projection models, economic scenario generators, responding to regulatory, rating agency and companies ?solvency and other risk modeling needs
?Proven ability to find creative solutions to clients' business problems using financial modeling tools
? Successful sales results in a prospect and client-facing role
? Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), economics, or actuarial credentials preferred
? A minimum of four year degree in finance or financial engineering; advanced degree preferred
? Strong analytical skills
? Strong consulting skills, experience in project management and directing consulting teams
? Excellent presentation and communication skills
? Ability to work in a team environment
? Ability to work well in a project and deadline oriented position
? Ability to work in a matrixed organization, where project teams consist of individuals outside the direct administrative reporting structure
Management Responsibilities
The successful candidate must be able to work independently and in teams. This position will initially not have any direct reports but will have the support of a group of Professional Services, Advisory Services, Software development and GEMS specialists based in the US, Switzerland and Cologne.
