What you'll do?
As the Director of Program Management you will build and lead a team of Program Managers focused on cross-department activities needed to bring new projects to market and to ensure continuous operational excellence for our SaaS platform. The position requires a unique individual that can lead the program management function and the execution of Brightcove's mission to connect businesses and brands with audiences through publishing and distribution of professional digital media. The ideal candidate has extensive background in developing and operating large-scale SaaS businesses as well as building out an organization while leading across functional and organizational boundaries. As a leader, you will inspire your team through your words, your actions, and frequent, small victories. As a manager, you will focus your team on clear, prioritized goals. As an individual contributor, you will define and communicate Brightcove's priorities, plans, risks & dependencies across organizations. In addition to the responsibilities outlined above, the Director of Program Management will:
What we look for in qualified candidates?
- Help define and lead the product organization team through the various stages of the development lifecycle
- Create and document best practices and templates to make the product delivery process as effective, predictable, transparent, and lean as possible
- Be a change agent: Identifying ways to improve processes and remove bottlenecks to systemically improve how we deliver value to customers
- Collaborate closely with Product Management and Engineering regarding product definition, project schedule, feature scope, commitments, and project-related decisions
- Facilitate cross-team and cross-departmental communication throughout project
- Identify and work to remove development and project roadblocks
- Identify and help mitigate cross-team and cross-departmental risks and dependencies
- Encourage transparency and proactively provide project visibility to stakeholders
- Assist with product rollout strategy including coordinating limited availability programs
- Serve as a catalyst and facilitator of the product development process that will ensure the successful implementation of both existing and new products
- Prepare and deliver presentations, demonstrations and product concepts. Typical audiences include executive management, partners and press

Expertise in technical program management- and leadership: You have a strong technology foundation (Desktop & Mobile Web, REST APIs, IaaS Cloud Platforms, CDNs, SaaS and PaaS Operations, distributed storage platforms and big data analytic,). You enjoy researching new applications and customer trends. You are as interested in technical trends as you are entrenched in the latest web- and internet business models.
Ability to act as a catalyst, driving the development process to achieve regular and consistent results: You are highly productive, independent, creative, focused, and have excellent communication and presentation skills. Above all else, you are as passionate about building world-class teams as you are passionate about building and delivering world-class SaaS platforms and mobile applications.
Proven experience: A minimum of ten years experience in program management and/or relevant program management in an at-scale SaaS product company with more than five years working at the highest strategic levels of an organization. Experience working with a globally distributed development organization is strongly preferred.
Education: An undergraduate degree in business or a technical field is strongly preferred.
