Overview:
Zipcar is seeking an exceptional talent to architect and lead our new Project Management Office (PMO) within a Global Center of Operational Excellence. The Director, PMO will play a key leadership role in our maturing operation. The right individual will enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and will have extensive experience in implementing project management best practices, policies and procedures within a global business environment.
Responsibilities:
Participate in planning and executing the PMO strategy, including process definitions, project management, lean analysis etc.
Establish, administer and continually improve project management practices and processes for the global center of excellence applying latest professional standards, processes and methodologies
Manage multiple enterprise projects to achieve desired goals
Manage project coordinators and managers working on cross functional projects
Provide vision, leadership and mentoring for project management office team
Identify areas where planning can make significant enhancements to the member experience by improving efficiencies
Project manage acquisition integration planning, SWAT teams, and new market launch plans
Oversee managers? process frameworks and planning skills
Develop standard post-mortem analysis process and leverage results for future project process improvements
Supervise the expenditures and cost-savings derived by the project management office
Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the organization?s business plans, key business drivers and stakeholders, and new and ongoing initiatives
Understand, evaluate and manage risks to the project portfolio
Foster strong and collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Qualifications:
Demonstrated mastery of project management skills: Program/Project Plan Execution, Scope Management, Change Control, Time Management, Cost Control, Quality Management, Risk Management, Communication Management, Administrative Closure, Vendor Relationship Management
Demonstrated mastery of project management deliverables such as documentation, workflow analysis, system implications, risk identification and management, training, and implementation
Demonstrated success in managing multi-faceted projects focused on the achievement of external and internal customer requirements
Must have strong leadership skills, a high level of initiative, creativity, and results orientation
Ability to exercise judgment related to prioritization and risk management while effectively utilizing project management methodology and tools
Ability to work in a matrixed environment; working as a change agent influencing teams across levels and locations
Ability to work under minimal supervision; relies on experience, research and judgment to plan and accomplish assigned goals
Business acumen; in particular with the ability to co-architect and co-orchestrate solutions
Must be able to drive decisions, meetings and manage expectations
Must be detail-oriented with very strong analytical skills; able to understand the details of the project/requirements and not just manage tasks
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to be able to communicate effectively with all audiences, including senior management
Must be self motivated, professional and promote a positive team spirit
Ability to act decisively in complex or ambiguous situations to set direction or resolve issues
Requirements:
Bachelor?s degree, Master?s preferred
PMP Certified: Experience establishing a PMO office preferred
Greenbelt or higher Six Sigma certification
Minimum of ten years project management experience with ideally 3-4 years of managing a team of project managers
Experience working in complex organizations handling multiple projects and deliverables simultaneously
Demonstrated ability to translate business objectives and needs into project plans
Previous experience working across organizational lines within a global organization
Strong communication skills required, as well as the ability to interact effectively with all levels of management
Must have the ability to take action in solving problems while exhibiting judgment and a realistic understanding of issues
Must have the ability to quickly assess situations, define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
