SilkRoad is seeking a self-motivated Director of Revenue Accounting to manage the full cycle revenue accounting process from contract review through accounts receivable.
Responsible for the direction of the revenue accounting team focusing on contract review and administration, revenue recognition for software and service related revenues in accordance with U.S. GAAP rules, accounts receivable, sales commissions, revenue general ledger accounting and financial reporting.
Manage, train, and develop four direct reports staff directly and indirectly reporting to this position.
Integral to reviewing and streamlining the revenue accounting process to improve efficiency and scale for growth, including evaluating the need to implement a contract and quote system.
Accountable for the review of every proposal and contract, working with Sales and Legal departments to ensure compliance with company policy and to resolve potential revenue recognition issues.
Responsible for the oversight of contract administration and entry into the financial system.
Responsible for the oversight of commissions accounting and reporting working with Sales and executive teams to effectively resolve discrepancies.
Responsible for the oversight of invoice generation and collection.
Responsible for the oversight of general ledger accounting accruals, reconciliation and month end close processes as related to revenue and accounts receivable.
Responsible for numerous analytics, key metrics and executive reporting materials.
Responsible for financial statement footnote disclosure associated with revenue recognition.
Technical accounting expert within the area of software Revenue Recognition, with a focus on multiple element arrangements.
Strong foundational GAAP knowledge with prior experience managing a close the books process.
Strong communication skills, written and verbal.
Ability to communicate and establish working relationships with other departments and personnel.
Advanced knowledge of Excel including pivot tables, macros and advanced formulas.
Proven ability to streamline processes, accept and advocate change for the success of the department and/or organization.
Continuously seeks opportunities to enhance own knowledge as it relates to technical accounting and financial matters.
Detail oriented, strong analytical ability, superb organization skills, excellent time management skills.
Ability to travel on a monthly basis (up to 25%).
Prior experience managing teams, a passionate leader who can motivate and mentor team members to success.
Bachelor?s degree in Accounting required.
Minimum of 5 years of software revenue recognition experience required.
CPA strongly preferred.
Experience with Great Plains and Salesforce.com experience a plus.
