Key Responsibilities
The Director, Services, EMEA, is responsible for the day-to-day operation of a small and energetic team of customer services professionals based in London, UK. These responsibilities include managing and leading the team, interacting with customers, assisting customers with implementation and use of Demand Media products, and maintaining and growing relationships within key accounts. This role requires a good understanding of the ecommerce industry, and a keen knowledge of Demand Media's product offerings. Like the other members of the team, the Director must be able to clearly communicate the products' capabilities and best practices to customers, and be comfortable influencing customer decisions regarding integration and use of the products.
The Director can expect to work hand in hand with the team based in London, as well as with the colleagues in Austin, Texas. He will be expected to be a team player across a range of business efforts outside of his core responsibilities, and leverage his leadership, experiences, and international perspectives to become a valuable contributor to all of our customers across the globe.
This role reports to the VP, Technology & Services, based in Austin, Texas.
Key activities include:
- Managing employees, including their productivity, needs, and professional development
- Inventing and defining critical business tools and processes to enable the success of Pluck's service offerings within the EMEA market
- Operating in a fast-paced, multi-tasked environment as a player-coach
- Cultivating good professional working relationship with customer relationship and project stakeholders
- Planning and executing implementation projects and other projects related to our products with customer, including travel to customer sites
- Set and manage customer expectations throughout the customer lifecycle, including pre-sales, implementation, and support
- Customer transition to support/operations teams
- Interface directly with other organizations such as Product Engineering, Product Management, and Sales
- Work and manage in a matrixed organization
- Product functional training and mentoring
- Maintaining relationship with customers post-implementation
Required Skills and Experience
- 10+ years work experience in the technology sector, specifically with Internet and Web-based technologies
- 5+ years relevant consulting work
- 3+ years managing a team in a matrixed environment
- 3+ years project or program management experience
- Working business knowledge of HTML, XML, CSS, JavaScript
- Fluency and literacy in English
- A strong sense of leadership, ownership, urgency, and drive
The ideal candidate would also have the following experience
- 5+ years work experience in the Business-to-Business Software-as-a-Service/ASP business model
- 5+ years working in the ecommerce
- 3+ years working closely with, or within enterprise software sales teams
- Technical experience in and knowledge of HTML, XML, CSS, JavaScript, and Java or C#
- Fluent in other common business languages in Europe (e.g., French, German, Italian)
- BA/BS in Business or Information Technologies preferred
Candidates must reside in or be willing work out of London, UK, at their own expense.
