We are seeking a dynamic and experienced leader for our growing Software Quality Assurance team that has deep training in the strategies of ensuring quality in complex software systems including Internet connected devices, mobile and desktop applications and scalable cloud solutions, a love of working cross-functionally, a gift for growing teams, leaders and contributors, the ability to shine the light (and keep it shining) on key risk areas that can cause functional, performance and reliability problems, and the energy to thrive in an exciting startup!
Primary owner for platform-wide software quality, which includes embedded Smartpen software, mobile and desktop applications, cloud services, community web applications and the Livescribe corporate website.
Establish and implement best practices for quality assurance processes; develop and utilize benchmark-based metrics, and develop & maintain reporting on these key performance indicators to ensure continuous improvement.
Experience managing multiple testing strategies (white box, black box, functional, load, regression, sanity, performance, manual, automated) with depth in at least one and the ability to lead by example. Ability to establish and promote a cross-functional culture of engineering-driven unit testing.
Develop and manage a high performance, distributed QA organization ? including remote testing team in Asia, with local leads that integrate effectively with our Agile development teams and an automation and staffing strategy that scales to address the peak demand of product launch periods.
Expand automated testing strategies using commercial, open source and internal tools and ensure comprehensive test coverage by finding defects and verifying fixes
Ensure and champion quality processes, which allow teams to identify, report, assess and resolve problems found during product validation.
Foster a company culture of cross-functional collaboration and a team environment that allows for individual development and performance improvement. Actively contribute to company roadmap and release planning.
Engage hands-on with product teams, when required, to drive quality strategies, help triage issues in the development process and keep multiple programs on track.
Work closely across the company with Customer Support, Product Management, Sales and Finance to ensure Livescribe products and systems satisfy both external and internal customers and development teams? priorities are aligned.
Help to drive release post-mortem evaluations within product teams and analyze root cause information to improve development and quality process effectiveness.
B.S. degree in Computer Science or related discipline; M.S. desirable
Ten to fifteen years of progressive software quality experience delivering high quality consumer electronics, software and/or cloud-based applications to the consumer market, ideally to 1M+ users
Five to ten years experience managing a software quality assurance team, with full software development lifecycle (SCLC) QA experience; responsible for multiple product releases and multiple products simultaneously
Experience managing quality in a globally distributed engineering organization and coordinating the activities of a remote testing team in Asia
Solid background with extensive experience and knowledge of standard QA, agile processes, and experience with various testing, development, and release tools.
Familiarity with and practical experience applying automated testing frameworks to ensure quality and reliability of one or more of integrated devices, consumer software applications and cloud / web-based applications
An ability to excel in a fast-paced, consumer-focused, startup environment; a team player, motivator and coach able to foster a culture of collaboration and success
Excellent organizational, analytical and problem solving skills and an ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the organization
