Director, Strategic Analytics Mendel Biotechnology

Mendel is seeking an individual with proven strategic planning and analytic skills with business cases, preferably with a background in plant science and/or agriculture. Qualified candidates will be responsible for strategic planning and analysis as well as assisting with developing and implementing ways to measure strategic progress. This individual will be expected to interface regularly and effectively with both senior management and external partners and prospects.Job Duties:
Strategic Planning and Analysis:
Provide analysis on key industry trends across agricultural and financing segments of the business and market opportunities; present analysis and recommendations that inform senior management and Board decisions.
Develop financial projections that align with project plans (costs, revenues, timing and probabilities); scope out general development path with scientists and outside KOL (time, cost, risks and unknowns); analyze diverse development/commercialization arrangements (partnering);
Work with company finance department to coordinate strategic projections with Budget and planning models, provide input on valuation studies and other related areas;
Maintain working databases of key industry participants and indicators of potential interest, including crop performance.
Create and maintain analytical tools to evaluate and prioritize business development activities and understand competitive and market environment.
Perform ad hoc analyses and decision support services in response to internal and external activities to facilitate commercialization and strategy decisions for MBI.
Create specifications for reports and analysis based on business needs and data elements required or available.
Assist in the preparation, presentation and follow-up of research proposals.
Transactions:
Support the Sr. Team with identifying, engaging and tracking licensing, partnership and acquisition leads.
Organize and participate in all aspects of certain deal opportunities, including prospecting, evaluation, due diligence process.
Support discussions with target external collaborators, support negotiation of deal terms and contract provisions. Support senior management in effective and efficient execution of major corporate technology deals.
Candidate requirements:
Requires an MBA; MS and/or PhD in relevant field preferred.
A minimum of five years relevant experience in a biotech, pharmaceutical or agricultural company in a commercial function with solid strategic analytics or related experience (e.g. start-up, biotech or agriculture biotech industry, health care or cleantech investment banking or consulting).
Must possess strong analytical and quantitative skills and demonstrated experience in strategic planning.
Analytical proficiency (modeling, excel, and database searching) is essential. Proficiency in power point is a plus.
Solid experience working on cross-functional project teams, including leading teams to measurable outcomes.
Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
