Stratus is seeking an experienced, driven, strategic, hands-on business development leader to identify and explore new opportunities and develop new strategic business initiatives, including acquisitions, mergers, joint ventures, collaborations, development partnerships, licensing, and alliance opportunities, in support of corporate growth objectives.
Reporting to the Director Product Management/Product Marketing, the Business Development Manager will be responsible for providing thought leadership and strategic commercial direction around cloud solutions.Responsibilities include development of market information, development of a plan for market penetration/expansion and establishment of relationships.
The Business Development Manager will be a thoughtful negotiator who can perform in-depth market and opportunity analyses and be innovative at the deal-making table.
This is a highly strategic, visible and influential role creating a pathway for real and measurable business results.
Responsibilities:
Assist in defining and driving Stratus? vision for providing a safe, secure, and incredibly reliable cloud computing environment enabling enterprise customers to realize their business critical computing needs.
Lead corporate-level business development activities in the cloud space including strategic planning, and the creation and maintenance of relationships with corporate partners.
Identify, evaluate, structure, negotiate and close transactions.
Provide strategic advice and counsel to senior management on joint ventures and strategic alliances, mergers and acquisitions.
Perform market research and analysis to identify potential partners and to identify innovative products and services to expand our existing product offering.
Locate/propose potential business deals by contacting potential partners; discovering and exploring opportunities.
Qualify potential business deals by analyzing market strategies, deal requirements, potential, and financials, risk; evaluating options; considering internal priorities; recommending equity investments.
Develop business development processes, including deal sourcing, creating financial analysis and market models, conducting due-diligence, making bids and offers, securing internal and board approvals and negotiating all closing documents.
Close business deals by coordinating requirements; developing and negotiating contracts; integrating contract requirements with business operations.
Build a trusted relationship and shared vision with engineering and product marketing peers and teams; creates and fosters positive working relationships with third parties.
Participate in customer-facing situations and user conferences as a product expert.
Key qualifications and competencies:
BS degree and 10+ years related work experience helping to define concepts that are turned into real products. An advanced degree (MBA) is a strong positive.
Excellent understanding of cloud computing domain, including in-depth knowledge of cloud technologies related to cloud delivery models, cloud deployment models, trends, and key players.
Direct experience driving business development with leading cloud service providers.
Understanding of IT systems, software and advanced networking solutions.
Understanding of high availability concepts and techniques.
M&A experience with a strong track record of success in corporate strategy, business development and general management.
Track record that illustrates successful implementation of business development plans as measured by successful product launches, sustained increases in sales, and growing market share.
Demonstrates a strategic viewpoint, strong business acumen and the ability to identify key issues and their impact in a broad business context.
Market /customer focused.
Strategic, resourceful and analytical thinker.
Open-minded, flexible and adaptable to changing opportunities; enjoys exploring alternatives.
Willing to learn and research new markets and technologies.
