Director, System Engineering Panasas

Reporting to the VP of Engineering, the Director, System Engineering, will be responsible for the development of all hardware/ software platform products at Panasas.The successful candidate will have knowledge of both hardware and software development, strong operational management skills, and experience withhiring teams and building an organization. Leadership and collaboration skills are key.
Specific responsibilities include:
Manage and grow the organization. Hire as necessary, develop skills and retain existing employees. Scale the organization to meet the company?s needs.
Deliver hardware/ softwareproducts to meet the roadmap; deliver the products on time, within budget and with a high level of quality.
Collaborate with other managers and executives, in engineering and cross-functionally, to manage the product portfolio from cradle to grave.
Develop and manage annual operating budget for your team headcount, expenses and capital.
Experience/Qualifications Preferred:
Ten or more years engineering and engineering management experience in a system-oriented industry, with at least five years of combined software/ hardware management experience. Two-plus years of second level management experience.
Proven track record in building a combined hardware/ software engineering organization that has successfully shipped commercial, technically complex system products.
Strong familiarity with software and hardware development processes and techniques.
File system, NAS or large client/ server product experience is a must.
Strong collaboration skills; excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Strong operational management skills.
Good mentoring and staff development skills.
Broad experience as an engineering leader in a fast paced, dynamic organization.
MS CS/ EE or equivalent degree preferred
