Director, Translational Biology Dicerna Pharmaceuticals
Experienced biologist with a broad expertise in pharmaceutical development and specific experience in in vitro/in vivo pharmacology. Experience in designing, managing, , running and interpreting in vitro and in vivo identification and validation of therapeutic candidates in experimental disease models from cell culture through rodents with a focus in oncology. Experience with non-human primate toxicology. The ideal candidate will have experience working directly with oligonucleotide therapeutics in a translational setting.
Responsibilities:
Establishing research direction and implementing programs to study novel RNAi-related therapeutics;
Design, implementation, and interpretation of experiments to identify and optimize new drug candidates;
Evaluation/validation of new potential targets available through in-house discoveries, in-licensing or partnerships;
Directing aspects of CRO?s, external partnerships and collaborations and insuring that performance goals and milestones are met;
Experience working closely with Chemistry, Toxicology, DMPK, and Clinical functions;
Experience translating research findings into regulatory interactions and documentation, including IND and NDA submissions
Represents the company and conducts presentations at both internal and external meetings:
Strong leadership experience with PhD scientists and associates to mentor, motivate and develop a high performing team.
Experience:
Ph.D. in molecular or cellular biology and a minimum 8 years post-graduate experience with demonstrated record of moving drugs from research to development and a thorough understanding of translational aspects of drug development. Strong working knowledge in molecular pharmacology and disease models. Ideally the candidate will have experience working with oligonucleotides as therapeutic agents.

Proven ability to lead research groups in the pharmaceutical/biotech environment and obtain meaningful results;
Ability to define and communicate research goals that characterize the biology and therapeutic potential of RNAi based pharmaceuticals;
Solid technical ability and hands-on experience
Excellent project management skills, a strategic and results-oriented approach to operational excellence, proven ability to develop productive professional relationships, sound operational judgment;
Experience in managing CRO?s and CMO?s as well as multidisciplinary collaborations with industry and academic investigators;
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment, manage multiple priorities, exercise sound judgment, be well organized, take initiative, be flexible, work well under pressure and produce accurate and timely work.
