THIS JOB HAS EXPIRED The Director of User Experience will lead and develop the user experience design discipline across the entire organization and play a strategic role in aligning the product roadmap with customer needs. This will require working with senior leaders across product management, engineering, marketing, and merchandising.
The Director of UX will be Gilt?s subject matter expert and will drive user-centric design across all projects and platforms. Working within Gilt?s Product Management group, responsibilities include setting the overall UX vision and strategy, providing thought leadership and evangelizing for UX, mentoring and developing the UX team, and presenting to stakeholders and senior leadership. This position will lead a team of UX designers and a User Researcher.
This position is extremely collaborative, and requires a high degree of social savvy, professionalism, and empathy for the customer.
The Director of User Experience will be responsible for helping to articulate Gilt?s overall UX vision through the creation of wireframes and prototypes.
The position will be responsible for end-to-end execution of best practices in user-centric interface design in mobile and desktop.
The position will lead requirements gathering across projects and serve as a liaison between business, creative, and technical teams, and work with development teams to ensure the workflow and designs reflect user needs.
The position will present new ideas and key changes to executive leaders to ensure alignment of business priorities.
The position will play a key role in the enhancement, unification, and standardization of UX across all Gilt platforms.
The position will provide UX thought leadership across Gilt, sharing best practices, leading brainstorms and workshops, and advising when to involve user research and testing.
The position will collaborate with key product stakeholders to understand and support business goals for existing and new products.
The position will work closely with Product Managers and Senior Management to align the UX strategy with customer needs.
The position will translate business requirements, user needs, and input from cross-functional teams into design solutions.
The position will set design direction and establish UX guidelines for the next generation of products.
The position will communicate a clear vision of best-in-class designs to senior executives and key client stakeholders.
10+ years relevant UX Design experience developing strategy and deliverables for the desktop and mobile
Natural leadership abilities, strong communication skills, and understanding of user experience best practices, information architecture, and interaction design
Strong focus on user-centric design methodologies that employ creative and strategic thinking to develop innovative solutions to problems
Proven experience tying product goals with business goals
Must have a strong background in gathering complex business requirements and translating these into workflows, wireframes and sitemaps
Experience coaching and mentoring others in UX design
Entrepreneurial spirit and excitement around shaping the strategic thought of the company
Experience with web metrics (Google Analytics or Omniture)
Knowledgeable in SEM and SEO methodologies
Proficient with tools such as Visio/Omnigraffle, iRise/Axure, and Adobe Creative Suite
