You could be one of us Director User Interaction Design The Director of Interaction Design should be a visionary that can proactively champion the voice of the customer through effective design of product. They are responsible for managing projects as well as managing and mentoring a team of designers. The Director will be responsible for managing the capacity of the team and identifying and building core design competencies within the group. Excellent written, verbal and visual communication skills are a must. Our compensation is commensurate with experience. Preferred locations: San Diego, CA Seattle/Bothell, WA Burnaby Canada Roles & Responsibilities: Manage and mentor a team of talented UI designers cultivating innovative user experiences and creative problem solving approaches to design Accountable for the vision, strategy, and execution of the user experience and site architecture Responsible for all aspects of employee career development, employee performance evaluation Develop project task estimates, deliverable and milestone task assignment will be responsible for managing the capacity of the team Prioritize, manage and oversee all design initiatives by interfacing directly with your cross functional counterparts from Product Management, Engineering, QA, etc. Identify and build core design competencies within the group Provide design guidance and final approval of all user interaction specifications Work closely with Usability Research team to better understand all aspects of the customer and obtain additional research if necessary Champion the user centered design approach to building product; be the customer advocate Contribute significantly to strategic design initiatives Drive the creation, and ongoing maintenance of interaction design standards Keep abreast of current design tools, techniques and methodologies Position Requirements: At least 10 years of industry experience creating UI models, user task and interaction flows, screen designs, user-interface interaction details for websites or web-based applications At least 5 years of industry experience managing design teams Advanced degree in Human Computer Interaction, Design, or other related discipline Must possess a solid working experience with appropriate design tools including Photoshop, Illustrator, Fireworks, InDesign, Visio, etc. Previous experience designing for highly interactive, Rich Internet Applications (RIAs) Should have experience with international and localization design considerations Strong communication, analytical and interpersonal skills working within crossfunctional teams a must Portfolio required Nice to Have Skills: Experience working on an Agile/Scrum team preferred but not required Working knowledge of visual design and typography principles Ability to create personas, profiles, and usage scenarios based About The Active Network The Active Network provides technology solutions and marketing access to community organizations, and is a leading online community for active lifestyles.
