We're looking for a senior, highly talented and motivated leader that will drive the next generation design efforts of Vertafore's product line. This is a position for candidates that are looking for big challenges and enjoy solving complex problems in a very dynamic environment. The Director of UX will lead a team of researchers and designers to define and drive our overall user experience strategy including setting research agendas, establishing design standards and tracking success metrics.
Additionally, candidates should have passion and experience understanding complex Line of Business productivity applications with the goal of improving ease of use and overall end-user experience. The Director of UX will work with senior leaders across product development, product management, support and marketing to lead cross company initiatives focused on improving the user experience of our products.
WHO ARE YOU?
You have at least 5 years experience managing a team of experienced, highly talented researchers and designers in an agile scrum/lean development environment
You are an expert in formative and summative research techniques, visual systems, interaction design, conceptual modeling and prototyping approaches with a strong understanding of how to tailor to the needs of different types of projects
You have been involved in the delivery of successful commercial web-based software products
You enjoy evangelizing, advocating and educating on User Centered Design practices
You are excited about beingVertafore?s spokesperson for User Experience including presenting at industry conferences and meeting with key customers and user group representatives
You are competitive and want to dramatically improve the usability of software in the insurance industry
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Solid understanding of web application design and implementation and working knowledge of modern web technologies
Ability to define and own the documentation and help integration strategy and design
Ability to establish style guides, pattern libraries and other reusable elements to enable and ensure consistency and quality across the Vertafore portfolio
Strong leadership and communication skills including the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary, collaborative environment
Experience establishing and unifying the design direction of a complex, heterogeneous, product portfolio assembled through acquisition
Must be able to prioritize issues, including allocation of resources
Must have a strong understanding of design systems including the ability to document and communicate for implementation
