The District Manager or DM has the main responsibility to oversee the activities of the Horizon Sales Organization within a specified defined area of the United States. Focus is on meeting and exceeding Horizon product sales goals within the geography, building, training and maintaining a cohesive and effective sales team, setting vision and strategy specific to the unique business needs of the geography, developing strong product advocates among key stakeholders, anticipating and uncovering business trends and needs within the geography and ensuring that sales organization and Horizon are incompliance with all laws and regulatory guidance. This position will also call on Managed Market accounts with the goal to obtain access and preferred status or tier benefit design for Horizon products.
Ensures that the given geography meets or exceeds all sales targets and goals.
Plans, directs, implements and oversees all sales force activities for a specific geographic region. Consistently achieve/exceed sales and budget targets and district quotas. Manage area teams to maximize their performance in accordance with Horizon Pharma sales plan and to advance organizational initiatives.
Recruits, hires and trains the Territory Managers (TM) and Senior Territory Sales Managers (Sr.TSMs) resulting in effective field sales representatives.
Sets a positive tone and high standard for the district area in terms of work ethic, culture, expectations, and business ethics.
Allocates and directs resource allocation within the geography to maximize results.
Monitors sales trends and results looking for opportunities to improve.
Works selected Regional managed care accounts to achieve reimbursement for Horizon products.
Assesses competitive threats and takes appropriate action.
Establishes pharmacy selling strategy for area.
Maintains control of work flow and ensures successful implementation of all plans.
Enforces Horizon work policies acting as a conduit to Human Resources (HR) and Compliance and Regulatory Functions.
Provide real time customer feedback to the Horizon Home Office.
Controls flow of work to insure timely completion and follow up across the District.
Demonstrates a tolerance for stress and the ability to make decisions quickly and assume risk in the face of uncertainty.
This position also needs to work closely and effectively with Horizon Clinical Field Personnel, Sales Operations, Sales Training, Marketing and Managed Markets Personnel.
Qualifications and Skills Required:
BA/BS required from 4 year state accredited college.
3+ years of Sales Management in Pharma Sales with demonstrated performance in top 15% of Region.
Expert knowledge in the selling process and the ability to coach and develop others.
Account Management experience preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication, negotiation, planning, performance management, problem solving and business acumen skills.
Professional, proactive demeanor.
Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Maintaining a safe driving record.
Strong Preference for experience in pain and inflammation markets.
Strong Preference for previous B2B selling experience.
Strong Preference for branded generic selling experience.
