Director of National Sales
Sorghum Partners currently has an opening for a District Sales Manager on the West Coast. States included: California, Arizona, Oregon and Washington.
Responsibilities include: Lead the sales effort for Sorghum Partners Brand products. Work with established dealer and distribution channels to grow existing sales. Recruit new dealers and distributors in appropriate areas. Perform direct selling activities, provide agronomy services to local growers, and serve as a coach and leader to a team of sales professionals. Provide leadership to the distribution channel and sales agents in the district. Administer policies and programs to meet district sales goal.
Call on customers with sales agents and distributors and serve as a role model, teacher and coach to sales team. Identify customer and prospect opportunities and establish a plan to capitalize on these opportunities. Provide agronomic support and advice to growers and prospects.
Maintain a thorough agronomic and technical knowledge of Sorghum Partners brand products and services. Educate sales team on new and better ways to meet the needs of the customer. Motivate sales team to enhance selling activity, differentiate products, services and relationships. Provide necessary skills and training to meet sales performance objectives. Recruit, select and retain a high quality professional sales force that can meet the needs of customers and achieve goals. Set sales targets and develop business plans with each sales agent and distributor. Understand customer needs and provide feedback to organization on product performance, program effectiveness and competitive activity. Suggest improvements or alternative tactics to help achieve district and individual goals.
Work with Sorghum Partners and Chromatin teams to identify emerging markets within the renewable/ clean-tech space. Implement plans and strategies to capitalize on these unique opportunities.
Bachelor's Degree in Agronomy, Business, or Marketing. Will consider other degrees with a minimum of 4 years field sales experience.
A minimum of 2 years sales experience is required. Knowledge of agriculture and experience in managing, coaching and working within a team is preferred.
Understands and can demonstrate different sales methods and techniques. Must have a working knowledge of basic agronomy and agronomy practices for the region. The ability to drive marketing and develop marketing tools. Understands products, programs and its relationship to competitive offerings. Must abide by company policies and procedures.
Strong oral, written and presentation skills. Basic computer skills and understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook is essential. Can demonstrate skills in selling, negotiating, influencing and handling objections. Must be able to identify, address and resolve conflicts. Ability to develop a business plan and meet goals and objectives. Demonstrated leadership skills.
Must have the ability to establish and maintain strong, long term relationships with customers, key industry and market drivers as well as internal Sorghum Partners/Chromatin teammates. Embraces and works effectively within the team concept. Has the ability to lead and influence teams/projects and coach individuals in accomplishing defined objectives and goals. Get results by taking initiative, overcoming obstacles and finding creative solutions. Must be able to work independently with minimum supervision and operate within a budget.
Must be able to support a dual role when necessary. General understanding of the renewable market is beneficial.
