As our organization continues to grow, we are looking to expand our Information Technology team. We have a current need for an experienced DW/ETL/BI Developer to join the organization in Columbus, Ohio.
To experience success in this role, you must possess a functional orientation, understanding how development work translates to the business end-user. A background interfacing directly with stakeholders across management spectrum is a must. You should be able to understand end-user needs and translate broad business requirements and objectives into technical requirements, plans, and designs. Your ability to communicate effectively and empathetically with technical and non-technical users will be necessary to succeed in this role.
In this role, the Developer will:
Participate in project/system analysis, documentation, and testing (unit and integration).
Develop and support an ETL and BI lifecycle from development to production with and without direct leadership.
Work with stakeholders, clients, and vendors to gather business requirements and craft designs that ultimately are developed and delivered as synthesized data integrity and meaningful BI outputs (dashboard, reports, analytics).
Troubleshoot existing problems, identify performance concerns, and contribute to new ideas/implementations.
Advance as a developer adding new languages, frameworks, and methodologies to core skill set.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
Applied understanding of:
development tools, implementation methodologies, and the software development life-cycle, with comfort working in each stage;
computer science, object-oriented programming, and relational database management system;
working in each tier of a BI technology stack (relational and dimensional modeling, database administrating, ETL development, data mart frameworking, cube fabrication, dashboard and report design/development/publication/distribution, analytics)
1 to 3+ years in a data warehouse, ETL, or BI development or similar role.
Relational and dimensional modeling proficiency related to data warehousing ideal.
Ability to write and optimize complex SQL queries. Oracle database proficiency preferred.
Experience with Pentaho for ETL development and dashboard/report authoring ideal. (ETL experience employing any other technology, such as Data Stage, Informatica, or SSIS, is required.)
Experience designing and developing pre-canned and dashboard reports desired.
Working knowledge of OLAP -based cube architecture and analytics capabilities, particularly employing Cognos 8/10, also desired.
Experience rationalizing, executing, and administering security models is ideal.
Programming skills in Java or any scripting language is a plus.
Possess flexible technological persuasions.
Exhibit creativity and logical thought processes with close attention to detail.
Be comfortable in a flat, project -oriented organization. Understand and follow general instruction and reliably work in independent fashion.
