The district manager directs activity of individual contributor sales personnel within a specific geographic area to achieve goals, and serves as point of contact for sales related activity within the area. Responsible for development of business including meeting sales targets, forecast accuracy, order linearity and budget and expense management. Successful order forecasting directly impacts the companies? ability to project revenue and establish expense targets, as well as, the ability of the factory to plan build schedules.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages activity of sales personnel to achieve sales quota, accurately forecast sales and establish and meet sales targets through travel and telephone contact with sales representatives. Develops both sales and technical skills through one-on-one meetings and by example during team sales calls and formal training activities. Works with sales personnel to close critical sales efforts.
Responsible for supervision of direct reports which includes interviewing, hiring , training, goal setting ,evaluating performance, salary administration career development and compliance with personnel, financial and safety policies. Represents department and liaising with other groups within the company.
Develops account plans and coordinates activities within accounts through meetings, phone, and travel.
Develops goals and sales activity plans with sales personnel. Effectively communicates goals, issues, and accomplishments through organized meetings, written communication, and telephone contact throughout the year.
Maintains CRM and generates activity reports including sales forecasts, lost order and competitor, sales call and critical issues for submission.
Maintains competence on products, competitive products and marketplace.
Must have excellent communication skills, and the ability to influence the territory to achieve quarterly and annual business objectives.
The ability to leverage team members, conduct effective meeting, resolve team and cross functional department conflicts and establish developmental and motivational plans for the territory. Identifies critical work objectives using knowledge of the company business and products and how own function contributes to the business.
Insures that all sales personnel meet or exceed all activity standards for prospecting calls, appointments, presentations, proposals and closes.
Sets examples for sales personnel in areas of personal character, commitment, organizational and selling skills, and work habits.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree (B.S./B.A.) in Chemistry, Biology or Biochemistry. The position requires a minimum of five years successful experience in sales management with at least 10 years successful sales experience in Life Science field (capital equipment & consumables).
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Understanding of the business segment and economic drivers. Analytical ability to understand trends and dissect industry data. Strong understanding of customer and market dynamics and requirements.
Maintains contact with all clients in the market area to ensure high levels of client satisfaction.
Possess the ability to adapt to evolving sales responsibilities and corporate work environment.
Excellent time management, territory management & presentation skills.
Experience with enterprise software solutions.
Willingness to travel and work in a global team of professionals.
Proven leadership and ability to drive sales teams.
