Description:Position Purpose:
The EH&S Technician supports Aspen Aerogels, Inc. commitment to compliance with applicable federal and state health, safety and environmental laws, regulations and standards by working with the EH&S Manager to plan, implement and enforce a variety of occupational health, safety, environmental loss prevention programs that assure the highest possible degree of safety for employees and plant facilities.
Duties:Job Responsibilities:
?Assist with managing and/or implementing the following systems:
oRCRA/Hazardous Waste Management
oAir Emissions Permitting & Reporting
oIndustrial Wastewater Discharge Inspections
oIndustrial Stormwater Discharge Inspections
oIndustrial Hygiene (Respiratory Protection, PPE, HAZCOM, Exposure Assessment, etc.)
oPersonal Safety (Confined Space, Material Handling, Guarding, etc.)
oProcess Safety (, HAZOP, RMP, JHA?s, etc.)
oTTB Industrial Alcohol User
oForklift safety: training, certifying trainees, and monitoring the program
oContractor Safety Management: Construct project-specific Permit to work, manage contractor training and oversee all contractor safety activities on site daily.
?Identify and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices in the workplace.
oAssist with development survey programs to identify and evaluate occupational health, safety and environmental conditions.
oFacilitate the coordination of on-site inspections to audit physical conditions and safe work practices.
oMaintain familiarity with all city, state and federal compliance regulations.
oCoordinate the implementation of controls from results of hazard analysis.
oWork with EHS Manager to measure and evaluate the effectiveness of the hazard control system, policies and procedures; recommend changes that reflect improved opportunities to eliminate work place accidents and injuries.
?Act as a liaison with Local, State, and Federal Regulatory Agencies in the absence of the EH&S Manager.
?Support the implementation/adherence of proper emergency preparedness and response capabilities in existence.
?Assist in establishing and managing EHS-related external contracts/vendors for support such as for waste disposal or consulting services.
?Assist in the development of specialized education and training materials:
oConduct specialized safety and environmental training programs to communicate hazard control information.
oAssist in new employee occupational health, safety and environmental orientation.
oAssist in Conducting Safety Committee meetings.
?Assist in compiling, analyzing and interpreting accident, loss and exposure statistical data related to injury and property damage reports, making recommendations for corrective actions to eliminate or minimize potential hazards.
?Support the enforcement of daily environmental compliance programs related to hazardous waste, air permitting, water pollution control and community right-to-know programs.
?Incorporate essential occupational health, safety, and environmental requirements in all purchasing and control actions, recommend the purchase of appropriate safety equipment and supplies and maintain inventory levels.

Job Qualifications:
?BA/BS in related technical (i.e., Chemistry or Engineering) preferred; may be substituted by 2?5 years experience within the EH&S field with knowledge or training in occupational health, safety and environmental compliance with applicable federal and state regulations and standards.
?Previous experience supporting manufacturing environments preferred.
?Previous experience supporting chemical environment preferred.
?Current Forklift license and ability to train personnel in forklift safety.
?Experience in managing and enforcing the safety requirements for all types of contractor trades.
