The Electrical and Controls Engineering Department supervisor?s role is to provide supervision and leadership to the engineers and designers within the Department. Responsibility will include key involvement in all phases of development, design, planning, execution, test, and field support for electrical and controls related duties across all of the TAS Energy products.
The Electrical and Controls Engineering Supervisor will also play a key role in promoting, developing, and maintaining strict adherence to TAS Controls and Electrical Design standards and common architectures within and across product lines.
Serve as primary contact for controls and electrical design/drafting related issues across all projects.
Provide technical expertise to internal and external customers
Assigns job duties and evaluates /monitors task completion. Trains personnel in performance of job. Performs supervisory duties, hiring, promoting, disciplinary actions, and performance evaluations. Facilitates/conducts staff meetings for the Electrical and Controls Engineering Department.
Drive the development of standard detailed controls/automation and Electrical system architecture for TAS products.
Develop and provide Department expertise in IEC design approach and hardware selection options.
Make recommendations for new product development and/or product standards based on industrial market requirements.
Assist manufacturing as necessary to resolve electrical or controls design issues.
Establish departmental QA and QC to assure drawing and design accuracy.
Participate in relevant planning forums to provide inputs in regards to technology development.
Attend Bid, Kick-Off/turnover and Project Meetings as required.
Support projects in the field as required, including site work to capture as-built redlines if necessary.
Any other responsibility as assigned by TAS.
Highly motivated, self-starter with a strong working knowledge of Electrical power distribution systems, PLC controls and automation systems specifically in the power generation, refrigeration, and process industries.
Proven record of management, leadership, supervision and evaluation of electrical and/or controls engineers group.
Strong capability to coach, mentor, and develop employees.
Strong technical aptitude and the ability to read, support development of, and interpret P&ID?s.
Experience in PLC based system design. (Rockwell Automation preferred).
Experience in Electrical Motor Control Center Design and components.
Excellent communication and customer management skills.
Demonstrated proficiency in technical writing and comprehensive documentation.
Ability to work autonomously in a fast paced, often changing environment.
Ability to multi-task over several projects and manage conflicting priorities.
Experience with analysis of compliance with customer specifications, UL508A, NEC, IEC, NFPA and other local and international codes.
Experience with engineering drawing requirements, documentation preparation, and configuration management.
Experience with PLC software development, documentation, and control.
Proficient at Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, and other related software.
Proven experience with estimating labor, task scheduling requirements, and component specification for projects.
EDUCATION & TRAINING
BSEE minimum, MSEE preferred.
PE in EE preferred.
Industrial HVAC, energy service contracting or central chilled water plant experience a plus.
15 years experience as EE/Controls Engineer.
5 years experience management of EE or Controls Group.
Experience designing skid mounted, packaged electrical equipment for both low and medium voltage applications for domestic and international projects preferred.
Experience with large industrial chillers and chiller systems are a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Position is at least 80% to 95% at a desk working with computer. Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Performs other physical activities including use of fingers, sitting, stooping, bending, crouching, talking, hearing and performing repetitive motions. Visual acuity requirements include color, depth perception and field of vision necessary to prepare and analyze data and figures, operate a computer terminal and conduct extensive reading. The incumbent will be subject to inside environmental conditions.
