Summary:
Aquion Energy is in need of a Senior Electrical Engineer for our product design team. The product design team takes Aquion Energy batteries and develops application specific solutions to meet a range of high and low voltage applications. This role will lead the electrical system integration of DC battery systems into battery management devices, power control electronics, and energy dispatch systems. As such, the successful candidate will have a broad range of authority and budget to quickly build and develop industry changing energy storage products. The focus of Aquion Energy?s engineering group is commercializing energy storage products for multiple markets.
Responsibilities:
Lead electrical integration aspects of energy storage system development and deployment - power electronics, battery management systems, sensing, etc.
Execute complete design cycle (concepts, analysis, optimization, validation and implementation) for the DC and AC distribution and integration paths of the energy storage system
Support integrated product testing and validation - both hardware and software
Write and compile source code for system controllers that interface from main controller to sub boards
Design, test and procure chips, boards and simple controllers
Setup remote telemetry and control of field installed system
Find and champion cost reduction opportunities, including recommendations for optimizing systems that interface with the battery system
Work with other systems engineers to develop customer-focused solutions
Validate technical performance and cost targets
Provide primary engineering support for vendor evaluation, selection and qualification
Manage vendor implementation of the design including performance to technical requirements, schedule and cost
Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews
Desired Skills:
Bachelors or Masters of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
Licensed Professional Engineer or Engineer-In-Training a plus
Strong background and experience in DC and AC electrical power systems and design for reliability
Experience working with industrial equipment vendors
Experience with protocols like CANbus, Serial, MODBUS, TCP/IP, LabVIEW, etc.
Experience with commercial engineering software
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills
