Description
The cross-platform Embedded Software Engineer is responsible for architectural design and the implementation of software, firmware, communications protocols, client-side drivers, and related software development kits. This position requires a 4-year degree in software, electrical, or computer engineering. A minimum of 2 years embedded system software development experience is required and 3+ years of experience is preferred.
The Lumidigm development team rapidly designs and delivers reliable, high-quality, and high-performing products and solutions that exceed customer expectations. The work environment is both challenging and exciting a significant amount of personal initiative is required to excel.
Responsibilities
Develop firmware, software, documentation, and development APIs for existing and future biometric architectures
Work with a multitude of platforms and development environments, including Linux, Windows, WinCE or others
Work with hardware group to bring up new products
Mentor junior-level engineers; may lead small teams
Provide customer support for existing and future products
Professional experience
Expert C++/STL experience required
Extensive knowledge of multi-threaded architectures
A solid understanding of software processes and procedures (Agile/Source control/builders, etc)
RTOS experience required
Other languages a plus (Java, C, assembly, etc..)
Blackfin experience a strong plus
Microsoft Visual Studio experience a strong plus
Device driver development experience a plus
Experience porting and optimizing floating point algorithms to fixed points
Background in computer vision, image processing, or biometrics a strong plus
Professional qualities
Problem solver, with proven real time embedded software design and implementation skills
Can quickly prototype code for proof-of-concept vehicles as well as for evaluating / estimating relative performance of various embedded architectural approaches
Ambitious, self-motivator, hungry for a challenge and eager to learn.
