Embedded Systems Developer Brivo Systems
Brivo is seeking a full time Embedded Systems Developer employee to join our team in Bethesda, Maryland, reporting to the Sr. Director of Engineering. The qualified candidate must be well-rounded and familiar with the growing technology landscape and desires to contribute in a fast-paced multi-platform environment. We need someone as passionate about helping our customers as they are passionate about technology and good operational practices. You will be responsible for working on embedded software to control devices deployed around the world that will work in conjunction to our high-availability, highly-scalable cloud computing infrastructure.Responsibilities
? Take a raw set of requirements, refine them, develop your own execution strategy, and then create a great product that solves the problem.
? Write solid, robust, self-defending code (mostly and some shell scripting) that lives in a potentially hostile environment.
? Occasionally debug/patch vendor-supplied kernel issues.
? While embedded, some systems have a web GUI (standard HTML, simple templates and some JavaScript) that you should be able to create and/or modify.
? Use small-footprint databases (some SQL-based and some not) with whatever technology is necessary.
Skills & Experience
? Understanding of software development process, experience in various stages of software development lifecycle (requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, deployment)
? Reasonably self-sufficient, able to plan your own time, keep to your own deadlines
? Solid C in a UNIX/Linux environment (autoconf/automake/make/gcc/gdb/gdbserver)
? Knowledge of Linux required to hand-build a basic embedded system
? Familiarity with embedded issues (flash filesystem, low resource applications)
? Flexibility in skills (scripting languages, PHP, etc.) is highly recommended
? Experience with hardware design and manufacturing support is a plus
? Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
? Demonstrate self-confidence, energy and enthusiasm
? Present ideas, expectations and information in a concise, well-organized way
Qualifications
? Minimum of 3 to 10 years of experience required
? Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering. Master degree a plus
? Must live in the Washington DC metro area or be willing to relocate at your own expense
? Must be a US Citizen or valid green card holder
