Roles & Responsibilities
Provide consultation and advice to managers on a variety of employee relations and human resource issues, including performance management, attendance, progressive discipline, ethical/privacy or harassment concerns, and conflict resolution with the ability to bring forward concerns as appropriate to the Employee Relations Manager for any issue resolution.
Investigate and resolve complex or sensitive employee relations issues that may pose a risk to the company; recommend resolutions and work with managers to effectively address areas of concern while remaining compliant with state and federal law as well as internal policies.
Proactively advise/coach employees and management in achieving compliance with HR policies/procedures.
Actively protect and maintain confidential information.
Input and maintain employee information in HRIS system, working closely with the payroll department.
Review and complete all unemployment claim requests and audit Notices of Benefit Reimbursement Charges, ensuring that discrepancies are reported to the Unemployment Insurance Division of the Department of Labor.
Represent Alpine Access at unemployment hearings. Investigate the details surrounding the case to ensure that all questions asked during the hearing can be answered.
Input and maintain termination documents and reporting.
Responsible for the completion of employment verifications.
Educate, assist and coach employees and managers on Leave of Absence process and interpret LOA/FMLA/ADA policies to employees.
Manage LOA/FMLA/ADA cases of varying types to include but not limited to: intermittent, maternity, family care, accommodations & unpaid leaves to ensure they are being handled according to company policy and procedures as well as in accordance with state & federal legislation
Responsible for tracking and managing administrative details of all documentation processes (i.e., FMLA paperwork is completed and in good order).
Establish and maintain solid working relations across HR and all levels of management to ensure consistency and sharing of HR best practices, solicit information and feedback and keep all parties apprised of appropriate/common issues.
Complete special projects and other duties within HR as assigned; provide back up to other members of the employee relations team.
Qualifications
University graduate with minimum five (5) years successful experience in employee relations or a combination of education and experience.
Excellent communication, presentation, organizational and facilitation skills.
Ability to perform under pressure; organize multiple projects while managing changing priorities and deadlines
Ability to gain credibility and develop effective relationships with a diverse client group.
Ability to assess root cause and successfully advise moderately complex employee relations issues utilizing effective conflict resolution skills.
Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team in a fast paced environment.
Effective organization skills with the ability to manage a large number of tasks, responsibilities.
Maintenance of up-to-date knowledge on Human Resources best practices, regulations and legislative changes
Proficient use of Microsoft Office including strong word processing and spreadsheet skills.
Experience with HR metrics reporting an asset.
Willingness to work flexible hours, as needed
