Responsibilities:
Own a variety of mission-critical and data-intensive problems:
Payments: transfer millions of dollars to 200 countries around the world
Fraud detection and response: detect fraudulent activity in real-time and respond appropriately
Price recommendations: help users understand what their property is worth; build an automatic pricing system based on millions of nights booked
Data quality: create algorithms to automatically improve the quality of our listings
Translate business needs into well-defined and scoped functionality
Implement new functionality, improve existing infrastructure
Requirements:
Experience using a dynamic programming language in a production environment (or personal projects)
Strong CS fundamentals gained through Bachelor?s degree in CS, Math or related discipline or equivalent industry experience
Personal projects that show and aptitude for engineering
Ability to work in areas outside of their usual comfort zone and get things done quickly
Desirable:
Experience using Ruby-on-Rails in a production environment
Experience using HTML/CSS/Javascript/AJAX in a production environment
Experience building and administering systems related to fraud, payments, API and recommendation engines
