This position focuses on the development of high performance RF switch products for the Mobile Wireless Solutions (MWS) business unit. Activities span the entire product life cycle from feasibility through end-of-life. In this role, the candidate will lead the product development of switch products from product concept to production release. Senior engineers are expected to work with a high level of autonomy, identifying and requesting resources to finish their projects. As part of a cross-functional product development team the candidate will support other essential disciplines including marketing and applications, project management, characterization, production and test engineering.
Roles & Responsibilities
Product Definition: Assist Marketing in defining new products through feasibility studies and technical competitive analyses.
Product Design and Evaluation: Schematic Capture, IC layout, Simulation, Package Analysis, Evaluation Board Design, Design Validation.
Product Documentation: Document all relevant product and design information to educate others on novel design techniques and provide guidance on product usage.
Product Characterization: Work with Characterization and Test Engineers to define, conduct and analyze data from product performance characterization.
Production ATE Development: Work with Test Engineers to define, develop and ramp production ATE solutions.
Knowledge, Skill and Competency Requirements
Ability to develop new switch products, executing to the product development flow and solving each project?s unique design challenges with minimal supervision.
Knowledge of analog and RF IC design for commercial applications in bulk and/or SOI CMOS technologies.
Detailed knowledge of one or more of the follow circuits: RF switches, RF power amplifiers, mixers or PLLs.
Fundamental understanding of non-linear effects in transistors.
Knowledge of CMOS and IC fabrication and how this impacts circuit performance.
Basic analog & RF IC layout skills.
Proficiency in software tools such as Cadence and ADS
The following traits are highly valued:
IC, package and PCB co-simulation using 2.5D or 3D EM tools.
Strength in documentation clarity and completeness
Team player with a strong sense of urgency to meet product requirements on schedule
Hands on use of RF measurement equipment to validate performance
Experience using any of the following software tools: HFSS, Momentum, Matlab, JMP, MS Project, Datapower, LabView, National Instruments CVI
Education and Experience:
BSEE or equivalent (minimum) degree is required. MSEE Preferred.
