Engineer, MWS-TX RFIC Design
Job Description:
This entry level position will work on the development of advanced linear power amplifier products. This includes device characterization, PA design and characterization, prototype development, system testing, demonstrations, characterization and production support. The candidate will interact with other essential disciplines including Substrate Design, Marketing, Process Technology Development, Modeling, Test Engineering and Manufacturing.
Roles & Responsibilities
This position has responsibility for:
Design, layout and characterization of multistage, multimode, multiband linear power amplifier integrated circuits and matching networks
Optimization of amplifier designs for efficiency, linearity, power and gain empirically and through design
Working with substrate and package engineers to extract maximum performance from IC design
Simulation of active and passive RF networks in Cadence (SpectreRF) and/or ADS
Working with production test development engineers to design production test solutions
Knowledge, Skill, and Competency Requirements
Competency is based on: education, training, skills and experience. In order to perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following knowledge, skills, and competencies:
Knowledge of RF fundamentals, Smith chart, impedance matching, power transfer, stability analysis
Knowledge of Analog and RF IC Design (CMOS preferred)
Ability to run circuit simulations in Cadence and ADS (must know at least one at the start)
Ability to document design decisions and tradeoffs, create guidelines for future use
Knowledge of RF Lab measurement and calibration techniques
Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
The following traits are highly valued:
Knowledge of HFSS or Momentum
Working knowledge of Matlab, LabView or CVI for lab automation
Working knowledge of JM or DataPower for data analysis
Knowledge of PA distortion effects, memory effects, characterization, and modeling
Knowledge of PA impedance matching topologies
Knowledge of Transmitter system architectures and requirements
Knowledge of PA linearization or efficiency enhancement technique
Education and Experience:
BS in Electrical Engineering required, MSEE desired
