Job Description:
This entry level position focuses on the development of substrates for high volume, mobile wireless transmit (MWS-Tx) products. This product line includes products targeted for GSM/EDGE, WCMDA and LTE standards. The candidate must possess thorough understanding of electromagnetic theory, RF circuit design and use of RF lab equipment.
Roles & Responsibilities
This position has responsibility for:
Design and characterization of multiband linear power amplifier matching circuits in various substrate technologies
Create prototype circuits for technology demonstrations
Work closely with product development IC designer
Design passive circuit for optimal performance (ie low loss matching networks, harmonic filters, high directivity couplers, etc)
Efficient layout, simulation and data analysis in EM tool
Characterize fabricated substrate design in lab
Knowledge, Skill, and Competency Requirements
Competency is based on: education, training, skills and experience. In order to perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following knowledge, skills, and competencies:
Knowledge of RF fundamentals, Smith chart, impedance matching, power transfer, stability analysis
Strong fundamentals in circuit layout and analysis
Good communicator using clear documentation of design progress, decisions and results
Sense of urgency to complete assignments on schedule
Knowledge of RF Lab measurement and calibration techniques
The following traits are highly valued:
Knowledge of PA devices including architectures and classes of operation
Knowledge of PA distortion effects, characterization and modeling
Knowledge of transmitter system architectures and requirements
Knowledge of analog and RF CMOS IC design
Ability to run circuit simulations in Cadence and ADS
Working knowledge of Matlab, LabView and CVI
Works well on a team
Knowledge of ADS Momentum, Ansoft HFSS or Cadence Virtuoso Layout highly valued
Education and Experience:
BS in Electrical Engineering required, MSEE desired
