Design, development and packaging of lightweight mechanism concepts for prototype and production series ensuring optimal designs for functionality, manufacturing feasibility and assembly; Utilizing creativity and engineering skill to design and develop innovative vehicle structures - optimizing for strength, weight, cost, functionality, manufacturing feasibility and assembly; Responsible for CAD and CAE operation to include product ideation, specification, design, FEA, kinematic and mechanism synthesis, and tolerance/GD&T; Coordinating product engineering process such as DFMEA and documentation methods like DVP&R to support test, release and launch activities; Supporting component and material selection and optimization for performance, weight and cost in design - aluminum/magnesium components, stampings, fasteners, cables, etc; Interpreting CAE simulation results and integrate recommendations into product design; Utilizing expertise in material selection, design procedures, manufacturing techniques and assembly methods as required for optimizing designs for polymeric/plastic automotive components, including regulatory compliance (FMVSS, ECE, etc); Designing 3D modeling utilizing CATIA V5 and full lifecycle vehicle programs utilizing DFSS methodologies during the design, validation and launch phases; Understanding, testing, and troubleshooting complicated system interactions.
Job Requirements: Master of Science degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering or related field or foreign equivalent and 2 years of experience in automotive and design engineering.
Special Requirements: Requires experience in: 1. Seating Systems Engineering; 2. CATIA V5; and, 3. Body in White Engineering and DFMEA.
