About the Job
Nexant is currently seeking an Engineer V for our Demand Management Business Unit. This position will be located in the Placentia, CA office.
Duties and Responsibilities
Engage building owners and operators to identify potential energy savings opportunities at their facility and determine technical feasibility of suggested energy projects
Independently audit (ASHREA Level I, II, III) and retrocommission (RCx) complex buildings, campuses, and central plants
Provide technical oversight in creating detailed and complex analyses and simulation model for estimating energy savings
Conduct QC reviews of reports and spreadsheets created by 3rd party firms and other engineers, identify shortcomings, suggest corrections
Provide direction and technical oversight of subcontractor?s field work and deliverables
Assume sole responsibility for quality and accuracy of work products
Support Nexant?s utility programs under the direction of the programs? managers
May direct, support, supervise, or guide the efforts of less experienced engineers
Other duties as directed
Bachelor?s in engineering, sustainable building practices, or similar
5+ years of experience within the energy efficiency or building efficiency industry
Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of auditing building systems (particularly lighting and HVAC) and/or sustainability practices
Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of building automation system (BAS) is highly desired.
Extensive familiarity with relevant building codes and standards (e.g. CA title-24, ASHRAE 90.1, etc.)
Demonstrated proficiency with building simulation software (e.g. eQUEST, EnergyPro, Trane Trace, etc.)
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel and Outlook
Demonstrated leadership to manage a team of engineers for delivering quality products within scope and budget
Excellent writing, interpersonal, and analytical skills
Able to work and manage time independently
Hands-on experience with mechanical, electrical, and control systems is a plus
P.E., C.E.M., or LEED AP certification (or on track to receive) is desirable
