Overview:
Linden Lab is looking for a Software Engineer to help design and implement support Application Features within the Second Life client. This position is for an engineer generalist, ready to tackle a variety of new problems. Ideal candidates will possess strong skills in architecture and design for building networked applications and a desire to improve large team development efforts. Valued experience includes OpenGL development, user interface development, WebKit and media rendering technologies.
Responsibilities:
Maintain, update, and support build of Second Life Client, including new feature development.
Work in collaboration with the product development and programming staff to deliver software design in various areas with passion for creativity and quality.
Contribute innovative, original, and effective ideas towards all aspects of production and development.
Implement networked and distributed systems interfacing with all project subsystems including user interaction, avatar control, simulation and user interfaces.
Document processes for teams and individuals.
Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications:
Strong knowledge of C++ required.
Familiarity with OpenGL or Direct3D development is a plus.
Experience with OpenGL development on OSX is a strong plus.
Familiarity with Webkit is a plus.
Demonstrably strong CS skills and understanding (BS or equivalent experience)
Knowledge in the following areas desired: networking, databases, user interfaces and systems architecture.
Experience with Agile development methodologies.
Proficiency with cross platform development (Visual Studio, XCode and gcc)
Exceptional problem solving and communication skills.
Strong customer requirement gathering and execution skills.
Desire to work in a collaborative environment.
Education and Experience:
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
