Engineering Development Manager Motion Computing
Summary
The Engineering Development Manager is the key engineering leader for new tablet programs. Manages the overall development effort from concept to production utilizing internal engineering as well as ODM and key supplier resources. Responsible for project management of the scope, schedule, resource, and budget requirements to meet the program objectives and ensure that all customer and quality requirements are met.
Essential Job Functions:
Manage the multi-disciplined engineering effort to define, design, and deliver to production Motion Computing computer system platforms and devices ensuring all requirements are met
Provide effective project management leadership managing the scope, schedule, and resource requirements to deliver a program ensuring all requirements are met
Utilize strong technical and industry knowledge in helping to define industry leading products
Effectively interface and communicate with outside suppliers
Develop detailed project budgets and closely track expenditures versus plan
Define, manage, and track detailed schedules for assigned projects ensuring programs are delivered on committed dates
Demonstrate strong teamwork and cultural knowledge while working with Asian ODM Suppliers/Manufactures. Periodic travel to Taiwan and/or China will be required
Demonstrate strong teamwork while working closely with marketing, supply chain, service, and other cross functional team members during development and delivery of products
QualificationsandExperience
Experience and Education Requirements:
BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a Computer Science related Field
8 to 10 years industry experience including the design of tablets, notebooks, or similar devices that were placed in to high volume production
Direct ODM design experience with Asian suppliers
Project Management experience including the direction of internal and external resources to achieve program milestones
Strong budgeting and expense tracking skills to manage inside a given program budget
Strong problem solving skills
Strong time management skills
Ability to assess risk, and manage conflict, and exhibit good business judgment
Thorough knowledge of technologies and computer-related products with strong knowledge of PC technology and various operating systems, platforms and tools
Must possess strong written and oral communication skills, will be required to regularly report program status to the executive team
